B&B Residenza San Gallo 79

This was our 2nd stay in this lovely b&b. One of the best pro is the location, in a quiet and not so touristic quartiere but at the same time close to the center and the station, easily reached with a 15 min walk. Staff is nice and very helpful. Rooms are simple, comfortable ( bed super comfortable!) and clean. Breakfast is delicious. Don't go if you want a luxury hotel. Recommended for a nice and authentic fiorentina experience.

All the towels were dirty, bed had stains, the room was spacious which was nice but it air quality was not good in the room. Poor bathroom lighting. Recommend not paying for breakfast and rather eat outside.

A hidden gem in a quite neighborhood. Staff was kind, cheerful and helpful. Make sure to get the breakfast option, the pastries were to die for. So delicious. About a 20 min walk from the Duomo, wonderful restaurants, cafés and shops.

Place is very clean, bright, high ceilings - and close to everything. Staff was also very nice. Happy to come back next trip to Firenza!

Our accommodation was booked through our tour operator. Overall we had a great stay but a few little things would have made it even better. As a word of caution to some, the rooms are located on the 3rd floor of the building, but there is a small lift if needed. The staff are welcoming, friendly and happy to help - one thing we did note was, that we didn’t seem to see anyone from the staff during the day, but this was likely also due to our itinerary. However, they were always very responsive through their WhatsApp, and offered helpful tips/ideas. A nice plus was you can check-in at anytime in the day, meaning that you do not have to wait until later in the day, and equally on check out (10:30), you have an option to leave your bags, so you can continue to explore. The hotel is based on a room only basis - but you can opt for a breakfast hamper delivered to your room. The options were plentiful and food was lovely, all locally sourced and fresh. There’s a small fridge/mini bar with some bottled Water and cans of Coca-Cola available, for a very small fee (Water €0.50 and Coca-Cola €1.50). There’s also a coffee machine in Reception (subject to being open) and tea/coffee making facilities in your room. The rooms were clean, bed was comfortable and toiletries provided. Some parts of the room and building showed signs of light wear and tear, but equally in keeping with an old building. Rooms come with air-conditioning, and can be controlled easily. The room was quiet, with very minimal noise from outside, we only noticed some shouting during an event one evening at the Irish bar a couple of doors down, but this settled towards the later part of the night. There’s free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, which was helpful for planning the day, and there is a little courtyard balcony that you can sit out on if you wish to. The hotel was close to the historic centre, and would take 15-20 minutes of walking to get to the Duomo. Firenze S.M.N was about 25 mins walk away, or a €12 taxi journey. There are a handful of restaurants along your route to the city centre and a bakery next door. Overall, the hotel was clean, safe, comfortable and offered everything you needed for a city break.

Would definitely recommend this hotel. I had 3 nights of very pleasant stay here. In terms of comfort, the bed is so comfortable that I am reluctant to leave the bed in the morning. The room is spacious, with a big window and dining table. It is also clean, no stains or smell at all, though the cups provided in the room could use some careful cleaning, but not a big problem overall. The design is modern, which is exactly what I wanted, after staying in old-fashioned European hotels for a week. The air-conditioner is powerful and quiet. Regarding the location, it is about a 17-min (flat road) walk from the train station. Beware, you cannot get there by public transport, since there are not many tram and bus lines running within Florence. There are no bars or restaurants directly downstairs, which is perfect because it is quiet at night. Don’t worry though, you will find a wide range of amazing eateries within 10-15 minutes of walking distance. Restaurants in Florence close rather late at night, like until 11pm, so you will feel safe on the way walking from the train station to the hotel at 10 or 11pm, since there are still plenty of families still dining outside.
