Miramare Hotel

This place is not at all as represented in photos or words. Depressing, dowdy, awful place with practically no facilities. Don't stay here. We were fooled by the photos but checked out within a few hours of checking in! It was worth losing a big chunk of our pre-payment just to get out of there. We moved to the wonderful Chora Resort instead and actually paid less to get a way better room in a much better resort in a quiet in-town location. Be warned: the description of the Miramare does not make it clear that this is a somewhat isolated property down (and back up) an extremely steep road across from the actual town of Chora, with no facilities aside from a bar and front desk. The furnishings are basic and without charm. There is no restaurant or food service; they told me that in order get something to eat they had to order food to be delivered to the Miramare from a restaurant in Chora. Folegandros is a small island and Chora itself is a sweet and tiny town - you definitely want to stay in the actual town of Chora instead.

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. The reception was really unwelcome and arrogant even before we arrived at the place. I was trying to contact them a month before as I was having a few queries and the numerous calls were not even returned. Upon our arrival, we were surprised by how steep the location was which compelled us to rent a car and that was an extra cost that we were not aware of. The manager had an unacceptable and conceited attitude. There was not even the slightest hint how inaccessible by foot the hotel was. The towels were not clean enough; the door of the bathroom was defective; and the wifi connection was very poor. Certainly NOT value for money. 180 euros per night could not ever be a reasonable for such an accommodation and service. Strongly do NOT recommend!

It was one of the few choices available that we could find and it prooved to be a vry good one. The location is very good, close to Chora but not in the Chora, with a beautiful view to the Aegean Sea and the Cycladic Island and Chora. Only the pillar for the power lines just in fornt of the are was annoying. The hotel is facing the north wind and this might be an issue when the very common wind meltemi is blowing. We were lucky to have very good weather, The superior room was spacious with a simple - light decorarion and a comfy bed. The bathroom was large and everythin was functioning ok. The hosts were very helpful and provided tips and assistance in whatever we needed, Breakfast is not included in the price of the room but the few thing that you can order in the hotel's cafe were very good (yogurt with honery and fruits, toast with jam, toast, cafe etc). The pool was nice and we used it some times. Folegandros is a very nice small island, with a beautiful chora (main village) and not many but very nice beaches. Prices in restaurants, transports, bars etc are rather high. It was our first visit and we had a very nice time.

Visiting Miramare this summer was an excellent experience! The location is superb, very close to the main city (walking distance) and the rooms have probably one of the best views in the island! The rooms themselves are roomy and clean, while the hotel had all the amenities we could ever desire. Best of all was the management of the hotel and the service we enjoyed! Always happy to help, with recommendations or with late check out, as well as the ability to come back to the hotel and use the showers and the pool long after we had checked out as out ferry was late in the evening. Overall a terrific experience which we would recommend and we would gladly relive in the future!

Vista spettacolare. Complesso in tipico stile greco, tenuto bene. Camera superior confortevole, ma l'aria condizionata non funzionava; in realtà ne avremmo avuto bisogno solo la prima sera, perché poi soffiava il vento Meltemi, che è parecchio fresco e lì, essendo l'hotel esposto a nord e sulla vetta di una collina, si sentiva molto bene. La piscina e il solarium sono apprezzabili, ma l'acqua, a mia sensazione, è troppo fresca. L'hotel dista a 10 minuti da Chora, che è davvero carina e ricca di ristorantini dove cenare. Non ci sono spiagge comode a piedi, perciò è consigliabile noleggiare uno scooter o altro ( noi con Spyros abbiamo speso 25 euro al giorno di uno scooter). Per la colazione ci siamo organizzati con cibarie acquistate al supermercato e l'abbiamo sempre consumata sul nostro terrazzo panoramico; volendo si può fare anche all'hotel con 14 euro a testa ( se non erro). I gestori sono disponibili. Consiglio il posto, ma da tenere in considerazione che se soffia il Meltemi è condizionante...( per due giorni era bello tosto...60/70 km/h) e lì si sente parecchio.
