Albergaria Dias

Absolutely lovely week at Albergaria Dias. All the staff are so kind, thoughtful, helpful and genuinely care about their guests. Cecilia and Luisa at reception were always helpful. The waiters and sons of the owner were always attentive and welcoming. It was peaceful, lovely clean pool, well priced drinks and snacks, plentiful breakfast and a gate that takes you into the centre of the old town with so many restaurants to choose from. The cable car is 5 minutes walk and was very enjoyable. I felt sad leaving Madeira and will certainly return again. We will definitely return to Albergaria Dias.

Just got back from this lovely family run hotel. Always made to feel welcome and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice and clean with a balcony which has a lovely view. Great pool and gardens. The breakfasts are delicious with plenty to choice and can be enjoyed on the veranda. Would highly recommend it.

Just had a fantastic stay at this hotel staying in rm 103. Check in was smooth. The staff are absolutely amazing. It's a long time since we stayed in a hotel where the staff provide the personal touch like this. They are so friendly and welcoming. The breakfast is really nice with hot and cold options. Bar snacks round the pool were tasty and reasonably priced. The hotel is clean and comfortable. We had a pool/sea/garden view which was amazing. The pool area and gardens are really pretty. There is a path of flowers and grape vines leading directly into the Old Town area with all the bars and restaurants. The hotel is like a little oasis, quiet and pretty. We will 100% return. We love Funchal. It's a walkable, safe city. Thank you so much to Katarina, Cecilia, Luisa and all the staff for a happy, relaxing and memorable stay.

What a goldmine of a hotel. Staff lovely , location perfect and breakfast amazing (only thing missing was a kettle in the room ) and just a 1 minute walk to the old town. Would highly recommend the West tour . Would not normally go back to the same place twice but would do on this occasion

What a wonderful find. Lovely small, friendly hotel in an ideal location close to ‘old town’ Funchal and sea front. The staff go out of their way to make you feel at home and nothing is too much trouble. Our room on the third floor had views out over the ocean and was well presented and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with a bowl of freshly cut fruit to die for. The small garden and pool provided a relaxing area to enjoy and the hidden path directly to the old town was a real gem. We would return anytime.

Let me say 1st and foremost this is a family run hotel and you know it the moment you enter. The front desk staff went above & beyond (special mention to Cecilia & Louisa). No requests to big or small….they are on it! Breakfast/bar/restaurant servers were amazing. Thanks Sandip, Sunhil, Anil, & Keanu. Special thanks to Mr. Diaz & his family that we were privileged to meet! Forgive me if I’ve left off some names! Highly recommend! Best location in Funchal.

Stayed mid April 2024. Nice room with comfortable beds and lovely view. Well-tended grounds to admire while eating pleasant breakfasts and light lunches. In the Old Town close to excellent restaurants for dinner. The most notable feature of the hotel is the excellent and attentive staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. Particular thanks to Cecilia, Luisa and Carla whose welcome at reception set the tone for our whole stay. Look forward to our second visit.

Our third time in Hotel Albergaria Dias. As always the same high quality: competent and friendly employees; roomcleaning is excellent; every wish is fulfilled; and last but not least: their amazing breakfast!!!! Dit was ons derde verblijf in Hotel Albergaria Dias. De kwaliteit was zoals altijd fantastisch: het personeel is deskundig en vriendelijk en heeft altijd goede adviezen; kamerschoonmaak is uitstekend; elke wens kan worden vervuld (in het redelijke natuurlijk); en tenslotte: een ontbijt van uitzonderlijke kwaliteit!!!

This was our second stay here, the first being 12 years ago. The hotel is well run, clean with a very good buffet breakfast and friendly, helpful staff. It is worth paying a little extra, as we did, for a 3rd floor room so that you have a good view of the ocean and harbour from the balcony. The location in the Old Town within yards of many restaurants whilst close to the cable car and bus services cannot be beaten. The hotel pool is not really usable unless you like cold swimming! It was cold in May the last time we stayed so it is not just a winter issue. The bathroom is quite small (not enough room for 2 people at once) with a shower over the bath rather than a shower cubicle. Whilst a good size empty fridge was in the room for wine, fruit juice etc from the supermarket there are no tea/ coffee making facilities though these can be purchased at the hotel bar. I had a problem with my credit card when I paid our bill but I raised this with the hotel after I realised the problem on returning home. The hotel manager agreed to put it right which is good of them as the mistake was not of their doing (or mine) but seemed to be caused by the card machine company. This is a very good indication of the hotel's attitude to customer service that they were willing to sort this out for me promptly and to my satisfaction. Many thanks to them for doing this - much appreciated.
