Enotel Magnólia

Alugamos 2 quartos neste hotel por 4 dias. Um bom hotel, mas longe de ser um 4 estrelas. Decoração dos quartos antiga e bem simples, sem charme algum, tipo 2,5 a 3 estrelas no máximo. Mas as camas eram confortáveis. A garagem disponível é bem pequena e se chegar tarde corre o risco de ter que procurar estacionamento na rua. O que se incomodo após um dia de passeios. Café da manhã simples, bom.

Excellent hotel. Clean in all public areas. Staff friendly and helpful. Housekeeping came every day. The hotel has indoor and outdoor pools, gym, and opportunity for spa treatments. The hotel is up a steep but short incline and about a 20 minute walk into Funchal. It's about a 30 minute walk to the Lido area. We had the buffet breakfast every day. There was plenty of food, hot, cold, pastries etc. You can also request your own omelette with a selection of fillings. Decaf coffee is in sachets. If you want extra tea/coffee in your room, you will be charged €5 each time you want to 'top up', so we bought a jar of decaf from the local supermarket! We paid €24 tourist tax for 10 nights, which we paid on arrival. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The hotel itself is in a good location - down the hill to Funchal or a 15min walk in the opposite direction to the Lido area. The hotel has parking if you hire a car, is nice and clean and they provide dressing gowns. Our room was perfectly adequate but unfortunately didn't have a balcony just a window that opened onto the hotel drive. The negatives were the staff-not very friendly. Reception were not welcoming and as others have said about a male member of staff at breakfast, whom I also had the experience of his rudeness and humiliation in front of the rest of the guests accusing me of taking a bread roll from the breakfast room (I will still sitting at the table at this point) whilst other guests were leaving with pots of yoghurts' and bananas-very embarrassing and quite unnecessary. Every morning after that he was watching us, very uncomfortable and from that alone I would not recommend this hotel.

Well located hotel being mid way between a walk into Funchal centre and also out to the Lido area with plenty of choice of restaurants en route. The hotel is well appointed and comfortable and the staff are very friendly. Slightly underwhelmed with the evening buffet on the one night we chose to eat at the hotel restaurant but the buffet breakfasts were excellent. We would hope to visit again.

Been to Madeira a few times and usually stay at the Lido area. Although it was not as quiet as the Lido area with the main road outside the hotel, it was a great location to walk to Lido area and Funchal centre. Great facilities, used the pools, the bar, the gym and enjoyed the lovely buffet breakfast. Lovely room and great views of the sea. Very friendly and helpful staff, would stay there again.

Couldn’t recommend this hotel more. Our room was perfect with gorgeous views and the cleanliness was just amazing. The poolside, bar and restaurant were never too busy and could always get a seat/ sun lounger. The hotels located beside some lovely bars, restaurants and little shops- we never needed to take public transport anywhere as the city centre was just a 30 minute walk. But what we pride this hotel most on is the outstanding staff members. They were so lovely, welcoming, entertaining and just all around brilliant. This was my friend and I’s first holiday alone and every member of staff just made this the perfect holiday for us. Thank you so much:)

This is a very good hotel and we would stay here again. WET AREA Indoor pool This is a great addition to the hotel and is kept at a perfect temperature with jets. It is semi-indoor so great on overcast days. Never too busy. The highlight of our stay. Outdoor pool Quite cool, but when complimented with the indoor pool, this is fine. It's a bit shallow but I imagine this is just how the hotel is built. Never too busy. Sunbeds More than enough, very comfy and clean. No need to reserve/scramble. Spa Massages available at a good price. Sauna and steam room free of charge, although the hotel doesn't advertise this very well. Snack bar Nice sandwiches, if a little overpriced. Could do with more variety of food. Great selection of drinks/cocktails as reasonable prices. Seems a bit silly that you can't pay by card. BREAKFAST A fantastic variety of tasty food; cooked, continental, cereals and pancakes. Lots of fresh fruit. We had one negative experience with a rude waiter; we were trying to take a banana and some bread each, as we knew we would be missing the breakfast (that we had paid for) the following day, due to an early hike. Before we could explain this, we were berated at length in front of half of the restaurant, even after apologising. This was unnecessarily embarrassing and marred our first day. Granted, we should have double checked the rules beforehand (we have stayed in places where this is allowed, in moderation), but, in our view, there was no need for such a public display. BUFFET We only had this once, but we felt that, for 30 euros, it was a bit underwhelming and drinks should have been included. STAFF Apart from the one exception above, we felt all the staff were a credit to the hotel, and very friendly and helpful. A special shout-out to Caterina and one barman's name whose name we regrettably didn't catch. LOCATION Buses to Funchal just outside. Close to supermarket and restaurants. Nice park and restaurant next door. ROOMS Very clean, spacious and good facilities. A bit dark at times. Good aircon. Free safe for valuables. TIPS - Rent a car with Auto Rent A Car - great service and friendly staff - Luggage room available free of charge - If hiking to Pico Ruivo, you really don't need a guide. The route is clear and is almost always busy. GetToHikes bus transfers are recommended and stop near the hotel.

Friendly hotel and rooms quite clean overall. The infinity pool is worth going into . The food could do with a big improvement . Some days there was not much choice on the later 8 oclock sitting and repetitive food at times. The staff are helpful in the bar and restaurant though. We were disappointed we did not have a full balcony and were told certain travel providers are allocated certain rooms. The location is not far from the centre of Funchal and there are plenty of trips organised by the hotel if you want to visit different places in Madeira.

Positives: very clean and good location. Negatives: room dark, no garden view just a driveway, bathroom products not adequate for 4*, male member of staff at breakfast miserable and abrupt, pool too shallow to swim in, child sports team staying at hotel and not kept under control.
