Hotel la Perla - Bike Hotel

Just got back from two weeks at La Perla. Pros Great location, close to buses and ferry. 5 mins to town centre. Garda really nice and a lovely 40 min lakeside walk to Bardolino equally as nice. Room smallish but adequate with a decent balcony Entertainment twice a week in the evenings was fine Reception staff were superb we had a few queries and they were really helpful Hotel and rooms spotless clean Pool area large with plenty of seats and loungers a great area to relax in the afternoon after exploring the area earlier Food was fine and plentiful no complaints Pool towels included Cons Staff at pool bar were young and at times rude. Making you wait 5 mins to place an order whilst they chatted or were on their phones. The restaurant felt a bit fawlty towers at times. Being served starters twice, having food placed in front of you to have it snatched back when you start to eat. Waits of 30 mins between courses. A couple of times the food served bore little resemblance to the description given. Overall Really enjoyed my holiday Lake Garda is stunning. Apart from the inexperienced staff at the pool bar and restaurant the hotel was great. And I would consider returning given the great location and pool. Thought the Tui reps were the best we have had in the last 20 years. At the meet and greet they spent 30 mins going thru the Area in detail explaining buses and ferries with maps timetables etc. Then went round every guest individually asking if they were ok or needed anything. It wasn't a sales pitch in any way , superb effort. Area Did Verona and Venice trip with Tui both were fine no complaints Went up the cable car at Malcesine best thing we did. Long queues though both ways Riva is different to other towns on the lake and worth the travel. Sirmione was fine as was Lazise, but preferred Riva, Garda and Bardolino Was disappointed in Limone, too busy too hilly caught the first ferry out. Would return to Lake Garda as lots to do and really clean with stunning views and friendly people. Top tip ask reception for a voucher that gives a reduction on the ferry fares.

A good value place to stay and handy for transport and the Lake in Garda. Like the earlier review we were almost immediately offered a “better room” for a payment of 70 euros without having seen our allocated room - this doesn’t reflect well on the hotel at all. Our room was fairly small but had all we needed for a comfortable stay apart from no air conditioning but the door could be opened window style with curtains which was good at keeping the room a bit cooler. The swimming pool is very big and lots of people were using the sun loungers around it. The pool isn’t heated consequently was absolutely freezing - if you are used to outdoor or sea swimming in the UK it is similar and you soon heat up if you complete a few lengths. The warm air temperature however was a bonus! Food is plentiful at breakfast and dinner and we enjoyed some excellent meals including some buffet style. A couple of evenings it was obvious there was a shortage of staff as dinner took a long time to serve. Staff were very attentive, professional and friendly. All in all this is a decent hotel which is well positioned, provides good food and has a range of facilities. Would definitely consider staying here again.

Just returned for a very enjoyable stay at la Perla hotel. The hotel was clean and the rooms if a little on the small side were adequate for our needs. We stayed on a half board basis and the breakfast and dinner options were very good . A couple of the evening meals were on a buffet style .One evening in particular was crazy with very long queues. There is a lovely swimming pool area with more than enough seating and beds for everyone. Also there is a lovely garden area with sun beds. We found all the staff friendly and helpful. Overall would recommend this hotel and will definitely stay there again when we return to Garda. Just as a footnote I’ve got to say that the plug on checkin to try to get another€70 for a better view in your bedroom by switching rooms to the opposite side of the hotel was very off putting as a first impression.

Just returned from a week in Garda at Hotel La Perla, and it was faultless! The bus station is literally around the corner, the lakeside is a 5-10 minute walk away with the ferry stop a 10-15 minute walk. The food was great, plenty of choice for the buffet breakfast, and you order what you want for dinner at breakfast. There was plenty of choice for dinner despite what other reviews say! Always a meat, fish and vegetarian option, and the salad bar was plentiful (with pizza too!). We were going to miss breakfast one day due to an excursion and the staff made sure we had a packed breakfast to take out with us which was great. You just need to order with reception the day before your trip is schedules and the night porter will have it ready for the time you request! All of the staff, from the lifeguard, to the serving staff, the cleaners and the reception staff were incredibly polite and couldn't do enough for you. Garda itself is lovely and a great base for exploring the lake! Would definitely recommend and would love to come back!

This was a lovely hotel with fantastic staff. the location of the hotel was superb. It was literally 2 minutes to the local bus station and 5 minutes to the lakeside. The rooms were fine and staff were always cleaning the hotel. The food was plentiful - we stayed on the half board option. This hotel was popular with cyclists.

Lovely hotel. Excellent location for visiting the entire lake by bus or boat. Bus station 5 mins away, boat 15 mins . Rooms clean, beds comfortable. Bathroom clean. Communal areas clean bright fresh. Staff helpful, friendly, pleasant. Food, varied choice, vegetarian options, food very tasty. Coffee at breakfast served at the table (no wait for coffee machine as mentioned in previous reviews). Would recommend this hotel and would stop again here.

The hotel is centrally situated in Garda. We made the mistake of choosing half board and although the food is OK and plentiful there are so many places to eat in the town that I think bed and breakfast would be much better. Breakfast is OK but the coffee machine must be the slowest ever and there is often a queue. You choose your evening meal at breakfast. There is a salad buffet to start, first course is a choice of different pasta or soup, main course a choice of one meat dish, one fish or one veggie. Pudding is usually panacotta, fresh fruit salad, cheesecake, etc. Service is good and Karl is a star. Wednesday is a Grand Buffet though the choice wasn’t good. I had a paella which was cold, tough rice with a couple of tiny prawns and no flavour. Spaghetti had no sauce. Very disappointing. The rooms are very small but kept clean. The balcony is therefore small and we had chainsmokers next door which made it very uncomfortable for sitting outside. We were often forced inside because of the smoke. I would recommend bringing your own hairdryer. At the highest setting it cuts out after a couple of minutes and takes five minutes to come back on. The coolest setting is very slow. The pool area is lovely. There are always plenty of beds and pool is refreshing and not too cold. Bar prices are about the same as anywhere, ie €6 for an Aperol spritz, Limoncello spritz, beer, etc. Water can be purchased at a supermarket opposite the bus station for 80c. In town you can walk to Bardalino quite easily, ferries go to Sermione though I would recommend getting the first ferry at 9 am as it gets packed with tourists. For the northern resorts, eg Limone, it’s easier to get a bus to Malcesine which takes 40 minutes. We went on a Tui trip to Venice. It was a long, hot, tiring day but worth it. Just back in time for dinner. We only stayed a week and could have done with longer so it’s an excuse to revisit, maybe to one of the northern resorts, eg Riva, to see the places we didn’t have time for.

Stayed for a week at the end of week. Weather was mainly very good but did have rain/thunder in a couple of evenings (to be expected at this time of year!). The hotel has recently been renovated. Rooms are relatively small but who needs a big room it's not what you go on holiday to do is it - sit in your room! Service at the pool bar was very slow; I cancelled by salad after a 60 minute wait. Never a sunbed issue around the pool but there are additional in the garden. Bit off having to walk through the underpass and up the stairs (or lift) to get to the pool and can see this Amy be an issue for those who have issues walking. I loved the food - breakfast had a decent range and the choices for evening meal where limited but I love fish so was easy pleased every night! Better than chips and pizza every night. Two buffets in the week and two evenings with live entertainment. All in all I think this is a great hotel, in an excellent location.

Great base for a holiday on Lake Garda. Close to the lake, close to the town. Amazing pool area and despite how busy it was the pool was never crowded. Breakfast was great, so much choice. The ‘coffee machine queue’ is definitely a reality but I stuck with juice so it never really bothered me but my husband did and a third even fourth machine could be helpful. We were half board and the evening meal was sometimes not to our taste (we didn’t always like the meat course). Overall it was good. The hotel and facilities were very clean: the room was lovely, we opted for a room overlooking the pool on the fourth floor. Couldn’t fault it, it had everything we needed and the beds were comfortable. What makes this hotel a ‘5’ is the staff. The staff were lovely, they worked so hard and couldn’t do enough for us. It was the national Ferragosto holiday during our stay and they involved everyone with complimentary drinks, fruit and all day celebrations around to pool. All the staff were included despite them working on such a special day. All round great place to relax and unwind. Would definitely return and definitely recommend. We went as a couple but it’s an ideal place for families.
