Sporting Baia Hotel

We stayed here as part of Cosmos tour. We were supposed to be going to a different hotel but it was changed at the last minute. I was reassured that the hotel had had a complete upgrade over the winter. The room had been decorated and there was a lovely new bathroom. We also had a balcony and lovely sea view. The room itself was clean but very, very uncomfortable. On entry the room smelled strongly and nauseatingly of cigarettes. We opened the balcony door and sprayed lots of air fresheners but the smell lingered. This should have been dealt with prior to our arrival. The bed has an awful cheap and lumpy mattress. Also, the air con doesn't get switched on until 1st June even though the weather was very hot. We asked, and the receptionist said he would 'try to sort it out' but he was just fobbing us off. For these reasons we didn't sleep a wink either night. We had dinner at the hotel one evening and it was horrible. The salad was OK (can't really go wrong) but the soup looked like sewerage. My gluten free pasta wasn't cooked so was inedible. They did offer to make it again but it would have taken at least 20 minutes and I couldn't be bothered. Main course was veal which we don't eat for ethical reasons but it was that or nothing. It was overcooked. Dessert was a postage stamp sided slice of cake for everyone else and a bruised but hard whole pear and a maggoty, hard whole apple for me. When I challenged the waiter that this did not constitute a dessert he was very rude and stormed off. The location is excellent and we loved our walks along the beach. There are excellent bars and restaurants very close. I gave one star for location but none for the hotel itself. I cannot recommend this hotel unless it remembers who pays the staff wages! They need to know they are there to serve us even if we are 'just' on a group tour.

This hotel is a nigh**are from the 1970's, the rooms are old, and not too clean, the things are broken. The stuff is rude, the food is poor quality and they finish the breakfast at 9:30. I mean, who is wake up at 9 during vacation, or at Saturday morning to have breakfast? In my opinion in Gardini Naxos (where I spent 2 months in the summer of 2023, probably every other option is better then this hotel).

It smells like sewer in my room and there is a really loud disco playing until 02 in the morning next door. You can heare it through closed windows and earplugs even on a Sunday. There is no duvet, only a smelly blanket. You can hear what the people next door are saying. There is no aircondition here before June. They charge 10 E for using the indoor pool and sauna and the fitness room is attached to the sauna, with limited access. The info on Tripadvisor on this place needs to be updated.

Indifferent staff, old hotel (like most hotels in Sicily), simple breakfast, awful coffee. Bur excellent location, bestuif il views in Taormina, opposite the beach. Decent restaurants at walking distance. Hotel can organise outings to Etna, Taormina and other places.

hotel very neglected, mold and peeling plaster. Food sucks, day after day the same things to eat, no vegetables !!! Personel doesn't speak english, was not helpful in any matter. We do not recommend it!.

WORST HOTEL. If you want to sleep stay somewhere else. The walls are PAPER thin. You can hear every movement from your floor to the ones above and below. Bathroom had hair left on counter and a clean dish left on counter in bedroom. Says parking included but man at front desk tries to charge additional for it. You have to pay additional to use the pool and it closes at 7pm.

The Good - Location nect to the beach, quality of room cleaning Average - Breakfest Not so good - freshness of furniture and appliances The Bad - WiFi bandwidth and availability in hotel premises; Acess to the Beach - recliner was 15€ We were right after telease of COVID restrictions, may be this is why most of top rated eateries where closed permanently.

Noi abbiamo prenotato presso la struttura Sporting Baia Hotel (4 stelle) e ci hanno assegnato una camera presso un’altra struttura, ovvero Villa Athenea. La nostra camera affacciava sui bidoni della spazzatura, mai svuotati. Le camere erano sporche, senza frigo, la cassaforte non funzionava e i cuscini non adatti per dormire. Il cibo era di scarsa qualità: la pasta era scotta e le verdure crude. L’acqua di 75 ml c’è l’hanno fatta pagare 3,50€. La piscina è a pagamento, il parcheggio inesistente. Il personale della sala era gentile e disponibile a differenza del personale della reception che era pessimo.
