Chestnut Villa

Chestnut Villa is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Grasmere. It feels like staying in a 5 star hotel but with the benefits and pricing of a family run guesthouse. This will be my fifth stay over the last eight years and each visit gets better. The beds are extremely comfortable and the pillows and bed linen are of the highest quality. The ensuites are beautifully presented and you can see a great deal of effort has gone into every detail. Coffee and tea are provided in the room and you can take a ten minute stroll down to the centre of Grasmere for breakfast or brunch at Mike's cafe, Freda and Ray. I highly recommend Chestnut Villa if you are looking for a luxury room in a stunning setting.

My husband and I stayed at the Chestnut Villa for 2 nights and couldn’t fault our accommodation. Had a lovely room with a fantastic view. Very quiet, so a good nights sleep. Bed was comfortable, tea and coffee making facilities, dressing gowns provided and the shower was amazing. Probably just lacked a bit of storage space (I don’t travel light), and just be aware there isn’t a lot of parking space outside the property. 10 minutes walk to the village and roughly the same distance to The Travellers Rest pub : very nice food. I loved Chestnut Villa and we would highly recommend staying here and will be back soon.

Right little treat of a property. About a 12 min walk to the town (adorable town). We had a suite room which had a lounge and small outdoor seating area which was super cute. The bathroom is of a very high quality, clean and Morden. The lounge area is the perfect size. It’s all quite cosy and spacious at the same time. The bed and sofa are both top levels of comfort, really high quality and well thought out. There’s a cute lil fridge which fitted a bottle of champagne and snacks #girlsnight. Love that there was card games included in the room, it sets a sweet a**osphere up. The views from the back door are stunning, you can see every part of nature right there. Mike was a delight; helpful, kind, wonderful mannerisms even at late hours of the night and early hours of the morning. The breakfast cafe is gorgeous; high quality, stylish and perfect for people watching. We would definitely come again, no doubt.

Mike went above and beyond to make our visit special! We stayed in a beautiful room with views out over the hills and enjoyed delicious breakfasts at Freda+Ray cafe. There are great walks nearby (our favourite being up past the waterfall to get to Easedale Tarn). The room was very clean and had great facilities. The Chesnut Villa is a 2 minute walk from a bus stop which made our trip very easy without a car.

I stayed here in their suite in August and it was simply gorgeous. we stayed in a suite i think because it had a living room, bathroom and bedroom. The bathroom had a separate bath tub which was a roll top clawed feet tub and was heavenly!! Nice big sink, huge shower, all the fittings are just gorgeous and elegant really high quality. Despite it being on a main road we didn't hear a thing at night. There were games left to play so we had a cracker night either games and watched a film with the patio door open and the rain pouring down...it was so beautiful. My only criticism is the parking....its a sharp turn off the road onto a drive where we ate all sandwiched together but reversing on and off is tricky with the road. Also unfortunately look out for white boulders in the long grass as I badly damaged my car parking on the grass verge.. and didn't see the boulder hidden in the grass. other than that this is a superb little place and we'd happily stay here again xxx

Excellent stay, super comfy beds and great facilities. Mike made us feel really welcome and really went above and beyond to make our stay great. One note is that the wifi doesn’t work so well in the ground floor bedroom we stayed in but it was such a minor point as the rest of our stay was perfect.

We stayed here for a Saturday night. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and the rooms were lovely and clean too. Great bed and bathroom facilities. Will book here again if we go to Grasmere. It’s only five minutes walk from the village. Thanks for having us x
