Fynbos Ridge Country House & Cottages

Our stay at the little private cottage in "Fynbos Ridge" was an experience we'll treasure forever. Tucked away in the stunning landscapes behind Plettenberg Bay, this gem offered us an unforgettable blend of luxury, nature, and exceptional service, proving to be worth every penny. The highlight of each morning was breakfast on their terrace, where we were greeted with breathtaking views of the lush valley stretching out beneath us. It was not just a meal; it was an experience, enhanced by the serene beauty of our surroundings. Though the views were not of the ocean, the sweeping vistas of the valley were spectacular in their own right, offering a unique and mesmerizing beauty that captivated us throughout our stay. Fynbos Ridge boasts an excellent view of the valley, especially notable during sunset. Watching the sky paint itself in vibrant hues while the valley beneath us transitioned into evening was a daily spectacle we looked forward to. The pool, a tranquil oasis, provided a perfect vantage point for these moments, adding a refreshing touch to our sun-drenched afternoons. The kids loved it! The attention to detail and care from the staff was exceptional. Not only was our room kept in pristine condition, but the surprise of finding our car cleaned was a testament to the unparalleled service and thoughtfulness that Fynbos Ridge offers. While slightly pricier than other options, the value received in terms of amenities, views, and service was incomparable.

Excellent in every respect. Wonderful setting and accommodation, beautifully decorated, the best breakfasts and great hosts - Brian and Liz. Can’t recommend highly enough. We were a family group of 5 and just couldn’t have stayed at a nicer place.

Of all the magical places I have been lucky enough to visit around the world this is right up at the top. Liz and Brian were incredible hosts, Plumbago room was outstanding as was the breakfast and view from the dining room. Liz sorted out whale watching and a marvellous dining experience. Exceptional accommodation.

A stunning location, clean comfortable with excellent hosts. If you want to get away from it all while enjoying the garden route, you will not do better. The view from the pool is particularly memorable.

Heavenly! We stayed in one of the cottages near the outdoor pool - my goodness the views were breath taking! We felt like the last family on the planet being there and that we had the world to ourselves (give or take a few monkeys) The quiet was welcome after being around Plettenburg or Knysna, just wonderful. Large property with everything you would need, include BBQ with firewood. Liz and Brian were super too - very patient with my 10 year old asking lots of questions about their pets and general life. Close to Knysna for the elephant park, closer again to the wolf sanctuary and the bird sanctuary are well worth a visit.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Fynbos Ridge. We had a very friendly welcoming and we found the owner to be very accommodating. The views are absolutely breathtaking and the pool was a big hit with our kids. The romantic fireplace in our main room was an unexpected plus!

Lovely stay just outside Plettenberg and great to be in the country side. Little walking trials in the fynbos and wonderful views. Listening to the bird songs and the evening symphony was a treat. We were welcomed warmly and shown to our huge room which was spotlessly clean with all the facilities required. The bed was the largest we stayed in in our 3 week trip and was very comfortable. The bathroom had a lovely bath and a great shower. Breakfast was plentiful, fresh and a hot option cooked to order. Highly recommended.

Our stay at Fynbos Ridge was great. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Check in and all arrangements were promptly attended to as requested. Grounds are beautiful and would love to return in summer to use the pool! Thank you Liz and Bryan for a wonderful stay.

Wow, what am amazing place - I am so glad our travel agent found this place! We only stayed one night and I was really sad to leave. I'm not sure if our agent booked the lovely cottage we stayed in or we just dropped really lucky with it being available for the night of our stay, but wow, just wow, what an amazing place to stay! The views were breath-taking and the stars at night were like nothing I have ever experienced before! The cottage was absolutely stunning! So well looked after, with all the amenities you'd need. It was so spacious and comfortable with such a huge bed in the main bedroom I got lost in it! Open fires in the lounge and bedroom meant we could get really cosy and warm. There's a pool with another amazing view but we didn't really get a chance to use it as it was a bit chilly! The shower was amazing with brilliant water pressure and there was also a fantastic large bath in the en suite bathroom. Brian and Liz were welcoming and really lovely and we didn't notice until we were driving away but someone washed the car for us and we didn't say thank you so sorry about that and thank you so much! Location-wise, Fynbos is outside of Plettenberg Bay but it was perfect for us as we were stopping for the night on our way to the Eastern Cape. I do wish I'd have had more time there and will definitely think about going back in the future.
