Our group comprised 3 adults and a child and we had a comfortable stay at Hanoi Central & Hotel Residences. According to Michael the manager, the hotel was built in 2019. What helped make the stay comfortable: 1) Many electricity points that accepted the British power plug 2) Good breakfast, where guests could choose Western e.g., sunny side up, or local food e.g., pho. The kids liked the pancakes. There were also fresh fruits at the buffet counter. 3) Reliable WIFI in the rooms and lobby 4) Generous washing liquid detergent for the washing machine cum dryer 5) At least two Michelin eateries located within walking distance. Also a very good local eatery with low tables and chairs at a stone’s throw away serving incredibly tasty oysters and chicken skewers 6) Located on quieter small lane away from the incessant traffic noise and honking of the main streets 7) Extra bed could fit easily when we isolated a family member who caught a cold in one bedroom. 8) Cleaning service and bottled water provided daily Please take note of the following constraints: 1) There are no street views – essentially the windows face walls of the neighbouring buildings. There is some degree of sunlight entering the unit (We wanted two toilets rather than the street view of the one-toilet units) 2) Breakfast is a very short walk away at the sister hotel - Calista 3) Entrance of hotel has downward steps (not for those who mobility issues) 4) The signs in the toilet instruct guests to throw toilet paper into the bin, and not the WC (seems this is the norm for many buildings in Old Quarter) 5) There was a lack of hooks in the attached bathroom (The second bathroom located behind the kitchen had hooks for clothes) 6) There is no pool in the hotel. There is a small paid gymnasium (not part of the hotel operations) located on the first floor of the hotel. The staff (Michael, Ann and Huy) at the hotel were courteous, helpful and could communicate sufficiently well in English. Special kudos to Huy as he provided the most excellent food recommendations. We enjoyed immensely every recommendation he made. On our last evening, he recommended a dinner place where he had dined with his mom.
