Extended Stay America Suites - Portland - Hillsboro

This is just my experience, but I was on a business trip and knew I would arrive quite late around 2am. Unfortunately, due to a severe snow storm my in time became 3:30am. Tim, who was at the desk when I checked in told me that a noon checkout instead of the normal 11am would be alright and if I stayed any hour after it would be $10 per hour. Grateful, I accepted the noon checkout. Walking through the halls to my room. There were rolled up carpet pieces and ladders. The halls smelled like old cigarette smoke amd there were several rooms that had very disruptive people causing commotion in their rooms. Yelling and screaming matches were heard all night and into the morning. When I entered my room, the smoke smell worsened and my allergies kicked in for a restless sleep. (I did not request a smoke free room or expect it but this was a bit out of normal wear and tear after a cleaning). The bathtub was full of short black hairs and the shower curtain had mold on the bottom. I woke up to housekeeping trying to get into my room at three separte occasions. Between the hours of 10am and 11:30am. Not sure why two of these times would be before a regular checkout time but it was very inconsiderate to scare me awake after I had thought I settled the late checkout and I thought it may have been other guests breaking in. When I left, I gave my feedback and I hope that their communication breakdown improves, that they clean the halls and rooms better and the smoke smell.

The best part was the Customer Service at check in. GRACE was just amazing! She was nice, polite and accomodated our every need. I will use this motel chain again, because of her.

The girl at the counter "Grace" was very polite and professional. The room was very good and smelled a lot better than last time. My only complaint was that garbage cans were hard to find and overflowing with trash. Cigarette smokers threw their butts all over the grounds instead of in the provided butt cans. That was pretty gross. I think Grace was by herself, so I think they were understaffed.

Lots of shopping and restaurants - loved that it had a full kitchen and the bed was pretty comfortable. Check in and out was very easy, but disappointed that I could not pay cash for the two nights. I'm glad I had the $ in my bank account because they would not take cash. The heater was very loud and annoying (Room 130), woke me up several times during the night when it came on. Key card did not work very well, had to try it four or five times before the green light came on. When they advertised "breakfast", I did not realize it would be just a cart with oa**eal and granola bars. They also did not have decaf coffee which was also disappointing. I've never stayed somewhere that it wasn't an option. Overall a decent experience

Took a chance, that I will never do again. Shower didn't work (luckily one night stay), the hallways smelled and were filled with trash. Internet was extremely slow. Enough said.

Very basic. It was clean but well used, approaching shabby. Tiny room, other noises from guests readily apparent. Very difficult to find the entrance; not their problem but terrible traffic planning.

Piled up rubbish and smoking in rooms throughout this hotel - despite the 'Non-smoking' room labels on doors. The room configuration was great so very disappointed as was hoping to return for a month next year. Would not come back here! I would describe this place as 'feral' and because it was so poorly looked after, with mounds (literally) of trash in and around the massive bin in the stairwell that was also so dirty it must have been a month since its floors were cleaned. I never heard a vacuum cleaner the entire 5 days I was there even though there was dirt and leaves all down the carpeted hallway. The state of the place, the lack of oversight by staff, meant it didn't feel safe.

Besides the smoke alarm going off and the entire hotel being evacuated at 3:30 in the morning until the fire depar**ent arrived and confirmed it was a false alarm, the room was clean and staff was great. Good location

I wasn't aware it has a kitchen so I will be looking for Extended Stay hotels in my future travels. I loved that it was in a convenient location with restaurants and shopping in a walkable distance.
