I checked in on 1 December ( 9pm) with reservation on smoking room (did not notice during reservation). After entering the room it smell bad. Then i realised that it was smoking room. Only then I realised i made mistake on my reservation. As i am having asthma, i went to receptionist to request change to non smoking room. Initially he said the room not available. After show him there are many rooms available on trip.com with same prices, he said i need to request through website. Then i made request to cancel my booking and plan to rebook again to non smoking room on the same hotel. After the website negotiated with him, he then went to checked the room. We inform him that we only use the toilet. After he checked, he said i cannot change the room because i already use the bathroom. From what i see, there is no trace of any usage, but he said i still cannot change the room. Further more if I want to be nitpick, I can complain about the cleanliness of the room. I can see trave of dust and stain. In the room and toilet. If this happen with another hotel, im sure they willingly to change the room due to my health condition. I felt the hotel especially the receptionist did not prioritize and consider their customers wellbeing enough. Over my 3 years stay in japan, this is the first bad experience ever. I will not recommend this hotel because the behavior of the staff.
