The second time we have stayed at the Victoria on our regular visit to North Norfolk. Stayed for Dinner, bed and breakfast. Any bad reviews about not being able to get drinks are unfair. It is a hotel and restaurant and if you book a table for lunch or dinner, you can get a drink with food in an excellent location. Parking permits for the Holkham estate and Wells are included for residents. We walked to Wells and back on our first day, had a superb meal in the evening, then breakfast the next day and walked round the Holkham Hall grounds before moving on to our next place. All in all an excellent stay in grand settings and a very worthwhile stop on any visit to North Norfolk.

Wonderful stay with our cocker spaniel at the hotel. Staff were super friendly from the start, very personalised service. The rooms had everything from a dog bed, treats, dog towel etc.. Our dog came everywhere with us, breakfast, dinner and was always fussed over. We spent our two night trip visiting the beautiful beach with its many walks and the house & grounds. Watching the deer in the ground, so close to us at times, was magical. We will definitely go back. Free parking at the major attractions was an added bonus. Fabulous stay.

My stay was fabulous due to the attention to detail, a professional and welcoming service and delicious food. My room was large, very comfortable and the bathroom spacious. The location close to the beach and within walking distance of Holkham Hall makes it ideal. Thank you

I’d been intending to visit the Victoria for a while, principally because of its proximity to Holkham beach and the reviews were persuasive. The staff are its greatest asset - friendly, welcoming and obliging. The hotel is small but not ‘boutique’. My room was Tutsia Clump which is spacious but a bit tired. I shared it with three spiders, one of whom was about to welcome babies. The room was noisy in the early morning from downstairs, I imagine from staff cleaning - overall I felt £230 per night was excessive given there are no facilities in the hotel apart from the restaurant. I ate in the restaurant the first night, the menu looks promising - I had roasted cod with a curried mussel and lobster sauce. The cod wasn’t cooked inside and the mussels were gritty, there was no discernible curry flavour - paying £25 for this made me very unhappy. The cheese plate is £12.75 for three tiny slivers of cheese, some soft grapes, three small crackers, slices of curly celery and a wedge of fruit cake. The following night I ate at the White Horse in Brancaster which I highly recommend - similar pricing but the food offering is extremely well executed and satisfying. They also know how to make an excellent Bloody Mary mix - the Victoria did not, unfortunately Breakfast at the Victoria is very good - lots of choice and they’ll happily mix and match items for you. They did forget to include the black pudding in my full english on the first morning so I had it as a kind of dessert. Beware the smashed avocado if you don’t like chilli first thing Overall I feel disappointed that the hotel and restaurant didn’t live up to the expectations set by the pricing. It could be an absolute gem as the location and staff are excellent but next time I visit the area I’m going to try the White Horse which has more of a buzz and fantastic food - I also had a quick drink at the Blakeney which feels more luxe for similar money and has a pool, gym, steam room and sauna

We have stayed here many times and have never been disappointed! All the rooms are lovely both in the main building and the ancient house. Dinner is always a treat in the restaurant which is full of character/atmosphere winter & summer. Breakfast is also always looked forward to. Service is both professional & friendly from all employees. It’s close to the beach and Holkham Hall. Car park passes available for both and parking in nearby Wells. Great location for walking and great for dogs too!

This is the second time I have stayed at The Victoria and it won't be the last. From the moment we checked in to the day we checked out we received great service and felt at home away from home. The room we stayed in was clean and cosy and having fresh milk daily and tea making facilities is convenient too. The restaurant is still exceptional with fresh local ingredients. There were lots of options for breakfast and you don't fee rushed. It is helpful to have staff on reception most of the day including around diner time to deal with any requests or queries. The location is fantastic and if you stay here you really can make the most of Holkham and enjoy the nearby Holkham Estate and the beach. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay so easy and enjoyable.

We’ve just had two fabulous nights at The Victoria, when ever we go we’re never disappointed and this time is no exception. All the staff were brilliant especially Lee who was very attentive and nothing was too much. I want to also make a special mention to chef who handled my food issues amazingly even making me a dish especially on Tuesday evening. Thank you for the careful attention it made my stay even more relaxed and this time I really needed it. Can’t wait to come back…

Our party of 5 enjoyed a variety of tapas dishes. Our bill was split between food and drinks. On paying for the drinks, I realised that a Norfolk Gin and a Tonic Water had been included, adding an extra £8.80 to the bill. Apology given and accepted. On leaving the hotel, I looked again at the bill and realised that an extra pint of Peroni at £7 had also been included. Headed back for yet another refund….apology made but….Dismissing the errors as a simple oversight and muddle over tables does not inspire confidence. We shall not be returning. Warning to customers to check your bills.

The proper name of this place is the Victoria Inn, but it is not an Inn! Popped in for just a beer, no chance. Bar open to residents only. Went to the estates cafe down the road, small bottle of water - £3.50. Tin of coke - £2.50. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Selling out to the Chelsea Tractor types, but putting the price of a family taking to the seaside for the day, out of the reach of normal folk. You have ruined the area, Wells included.
