May 15-16, 2024 From the moment we saw photos of this special place on the internet, we knew we had to stay here! The natural rock onsen baths caught our imagination - and our stay was wonderful beyond expectations! The resort is located in a forested valley is stunning, next to a rushing river. Natural mountain hot spring water is channeled into 7 lovely outdoor onsen baths, as well as ensuite baths. The facility is beautifully designed with gardens and multi-level suites, with each of the levels looking out to the river, with plenty of seating to enjoy the relaxing and lovely views. We were treated with limitless thoughtful hospitality from the moment we arrived, to the moment we left - in fact, one of our group kept commenting ”the y[the staff] must think we're really special!”. The suite was beautifully appointed with tatami mats, traditional Japanese decor, comfortable beds, yukata and slippers are provided along with tabi socks and plenty of clean linens. Our suite had its own private onsen bath encircled by natural stones, and constantly running hot spring water. Such a contrast to water-parched California and even Hawaii where we're from! The outdoor onsens are open all night, for viewing of the starry night sky. The kaiseki dinner was exceptional, with many many delicious small plates, each exquisitely prepared and presented - a petite, freshly caught local fish was skewered as if swimming and roasted in a salt shell. Utterly delicious! In the morning, after a similarly wonderful breakfast, we experienced a mochi-pounding session with the hotel staff and guests joining in - lots of fun - photos were provided! Transportation - It was a challenge figuring out how to get to this place - finally, we had a Japanese-speaking hotel clerk call the resort, and got instructions for the 1-hour bus ride from Takayama bus station to Shinhotaka Onsen / Nakao Kou-gen-guchi. There are buses running every hour! We walked to the resort from the bus stop when we arrived, and a shuttle van to the bus stop was thoughtfully provided by the resort when we left. We love this hotel.. I really like Takayama unfortunately I stayed only 1 N as a stopover. We will visit again. The only issues is i do prefer high floor.. and was given 2nd but since we only stay for 1nite .. I did not change. Will visit again. Did not have time to check out other part of the facilities. We ordered dinner and breakfast with accommodation.. the dinner was excellent . Breakfast spread is great.. lots of choices. Service is excellent in the restaurant.

The room is exactly same as the photo on Trip.com, it is clean and spacious. Although it is close to railway station, but no noise in the midnight, my husband and I had a very good sleep at night. The bed and shower are so comfy, definitely will stay this hotel again if I visit Takayama again.

We are here for their onsen (can opt for private or public) and because of its strategic location from the train station and bus station. There are alot of food options within short walking distance, around 10-15 min walk to reach miyagawa river and enjoy their morning market. The hotel provides odens and new year noodle because we spent new year during our stays. They put extra care for kids amenities with a cute slippers and handkerchief. We enjoy our stay in Takayam

The staff were so friendly and polite and helpful!!! They had a booklet with English for us, and as it was our first onsen experience, they patiently explained everything we needed to know and answered our questions. The outdoor onsen was beautiful and so peaceful. Food was also delicious and our one night stay was very enjoyable and the amount we paid is definitely worth it. Highly recommend :)

The best onsen ryokan I’ve ever been to. If I could gatekeep this place, I would! Love every part of it, so zen so clean and quiet. The food is amazing especially the beef. The onsen is amazing, they have public and private indoor and outdoor onsens, you don’t even have to worry about not getting the private onsen slots. They are always available. Love the outdoor onsen the most! I will be back next year :)

The room with onsen is very good. The room size is large and there’re indoor & outdoor onsen in your room. The water is always full in bathtub and quite hot. You can relax all time in your room. The breakfast and dinner are Japanese food. You may book the time of your meal during check in. The last dinner time is 18:30 hrs.

温泉換衫處加個locker設施較好 & 性價比高~

小型溫泉酒店，非常感受到酒店的用心，相比起較繁榮的地區，這種較偏遠的小酒店我更加喜歡，感覺到酒店想用心做好每個地方，雖然價錢便宜，但有很多細節位置都做得好好，例如大堂有一個自助小食飲品區，二十四小時供應，另外也有提供小孩子的浴衣，酒店房都非常乾淨，不知是不是有做過翻新，所以房間都很新淨
