We tried to book this lesser known hotel in the area and guess what, we were glad we did got the opportunity to stay in this lovely hotel. The staff was kind and sincere even though they tried their best to speak converse with us in english. The room we stayed in was those like ryokan kind with a toilet in it. Shower area are shared among other guests which is linked to a shared indoor and outdoor onsen areas as well. They have a private onsen as well which you do not need to book, just need to lock the door outside to inform people that you're using it. The best part of this experience is that we opted for dinner and breakfast and we were just blown away especially the dinner course menu. They provided like 10 different type of dishes for you to taste which includes the iconic hida beef as well! Everything for one night is so affordable around SGD $200+ which is definitely worth it!

May 15-16, 2024 From the moment we saw photos of this special place on the internet, we knew we had to stay here! The natural rock onsen baths caught our imagination - and our stay was wonderful beyond expectations! The resort is located in a forested valley is stunning, next to a rushing river. Natural mountain hot spring water is channeled into 7 lovely outdoor onsen baths, as well as ensuite baths. The facility is beautifully designed with gardens and multi-level suites, with each of the levels looking out to the river, with plenty of seating to enjoy the relaxing and lovely views. We were treated with limitless thoughtful hospitality from the moment we arrived, to the moment we left - in fact, one of our group kept commenting ”the y[the staff] must think we're really special!”. The suite was beautifully appointed with tatami mats, traditional Japanese decor, comfortable beds, yukata and slippers are provided along with tabi socks and plenty of clean linens. Our suite had its own private onsen bath encircled by natural stones, and constantly running hot spring water. Such a contrast to water-parched California and even Hawaii where we're from! The outdoor onsens are open all night, for viewing of the starry night sky. The kaiseki dinner was exceptional, with many many delicious small plates, each exquisitely prepared and presented - a petite, freshly caught local fish was skewered as if swimming and roasted in a salt shell. Utterly delicious! In the morning, after a similarly wonderful breakfast, we experienced a mochi-pounding session with the hotel staff and guests joining in - lots of fun - photos were provided! Transportation - It was a challenge figuring out how to get to this place - finally, we had a Japanese-speaking hotel clerk call the resort, and got instructions for the 1-hour bus ride from Takayama bus station to Shinhotaka Onsen / Nakao Kou-gen-guchi. There are buses running every hour! We walked to the resort from the bus stop when we arrived, and a shuttle van to the bus stop was thoughtfully provided by the resort when we left. The staff were so friendly and polite and helpful!!! They had a booklet with English for us, and as it was our first onsen experience, they patiently explained everything we needed to know and answered our questions. The outdoor onsen was beautiful and so peaceful. Food was also delicious and our one night stay was very enjoyable and the amount we paid is definitely worth it. Highly recommend :)

The best onsen ryokan I’ve ever been to. If I could gatekeep this place, I would! Love every part of it, so zen so clean and quiet. The food is amazing especially the beef. The onsen is amazing, they have public and private indoor and outdoor onsens, you don’t even have to worry about not getting the private onsen slots. They are always available. Love the outdoor onsen the most! I will be back next year :)

The room was quite small but all the amenities is good. there's onsen (which i didnt explore) but you can basically monitor everything from the tv, to check if the laundry is currently used or if the onsen is crowded. theres free drink and food upon arrival. and the front desk can speak english 😁 anddddd theres family mart in front of the hotelllllll. with parking some more and not that far from hida town.

Remote location but near to shinhotake ropeway. Very quaint hotel. We stayed in a Japanese room. We did not have dinner in hotel and have to step out when they make the bed for the evening. We were told we can stay in the room but felt that we got in the way. They were very efficient and it was done in under 15mins. The hotel was small and there were 2 different wings. It’s a bit troublesome to take 2 diff lifts to go to dining area/bath. Front desk was earnest but non english speaking. The outdoor baths were really nice. You have to take a small single cabin inclined elevator that you operate on your own to get there. Otherwise a short climb/ stairs. Breakfast was splendid and one of the best we had experienced during our trip. Ingredients were fresh and the portions were just nice.

The Maps lead us to further location And imagine we had passed the building like 3times back and forth but didn’t know that was it. Pls update the location on the maps here on trip. Room is ok, no shower room no big issue coz we go to onsen anyway. Got buffet dinner and breakfast. But receptionist didn’t update the breakfast cut off time is 8:45am and we reach there by 8:50 its already closed. One thing about japanese onsen resort is that they will close everything in the morning to prevent customer to fully utilise the facilities for what we paid for. We usually rest on the evening the day we arrive and only use the facilities in the morning. Not really recommended here coz they really scare their customer use the facilities😂

The room with onsen is very good. The room size is large and there’re indoor & outdoor onsen in your room. The water is always full in bathtub and quite hot. You can relax all time in your room. The breakfast and dinner are Japanese food. You may book the time of your meal during check in. The last dinner time is 18:30 hrs.

温泉換衫處加個locker設施較好 & 性價比高~

小型溫泉酒店，非常感受到酒店的用心，相比起較繁榮的地區，這種較偏遠的小酒店我更加喜歡，感覺到酒店想用心做好每個地方，雖然價錢便宜，但有很多細節位置都做得好好，例如大堂有一個自助小食飲品區，二十四小時供應，另外也有提供小孩子的浴衣，酒店房都非常乾淨，不知是不是有做過翻新，所以房間都很新淨
