Budget Host Travelers Motel

This place was a total bummer! We read the reviews and thought it wouldn't be fancy, but this was rough. First off, forget about checking in late - they don't seem to do that even though it's not mentioned anywhere. We waited for like an hour with nobody at the front desk! Finally, a guy showed up and said the TVs weren't available in our rooms (no biggie). But then we got to the rooms themselves, and wow. No sheets, blankets, towels, or soap - basically nothing! Curtains were missing in some spots, replaced with... a picture frame? Plus, the bathroom light was broken with a weird floor lamp thing going on. And the worst part? Let's just say someone REALLY missed cleaning up in there. The whole room smelled like cigarettes and old food. Nope. We were outta there faster than you can say "road trip!" We ended up scrambling to find another place to stay that night. Getting a refund for this disaster zone was impossible, too. Look, I get it's a budget motel, but come on. This was worse than sleeping on a subway bench. Avoid this place if you can!

I had a great stay here a few years ago, and wrote a very favorable review. I gather that the place has been bought by a chain since I was there, which may account for my latest experience. I booked a room and paid in advance. My plans changed and I needed to change the booking to the previous night. I called the customer service number and got in an endless loop. "Stay on the line and you'll be transferred to an operator." Ring ring ring ring. "Stay on the line and you'll be transferred to an operator." Ring ring ring ring. "Stay on the line and you'll be transferred to an operator." Only one time did an operator actually pick up. I told her I needed to change the booking and she said she'd transfer me to someone who could help me. Ring ring ring ring. "Stay on the line and you'll be transferred to an operator." After 20 minutes or so I gave up, booked a room at another motel for the night I needed, and will probably just have to eat the charge for the night I didn't use (although I'm taking it up with my credit card company).

booked a 5 night stay, needed to check out a day early but they would not give a refund for that one night. no daily maid service. no lounge that I could find. Do not stay here, 4-5 other motels near by for only a dollar or so more a night. place needs some work, they also go by the name of Cozy Stay near the heart of alexandria. front desk open sometimes.

I came to this property strictly as a means of saving some money. Hotels where my business was being conducted (Arlington, VA) averaged $400/night. At almost 66 years old, I was no stranger to the older 'motels'. As a family, we spent many nights in motels in the 1960's. In today's world, hotels have claimed dominance over the classic 'motor hotel' or motel, yet, they remain a part of the American landscape. Upon my arrival, I was cheerfully greeted by the hotel manager. My entire experience with the check-in, the friendliness of the manager and another individual in the lobby, had taken me back 50+ years. I jokingly asked whether I'd get one of the keys hanging on a diamond shaped plastic fob. Indeed I did. The nice part of a motel is the ability to drive to and park right in front of your room. No schlepping bags through a lobby, up an elevator, then on a 1/2 mile hike to your room. The room was average size with a queen-size bed, pull out sofa, desk, TV, refrigerator and microwave. A large closet had an extra pillow, ample hangers and a luggage stand. The bathroom was a decent size with a tub/shower. Overall, the room was very clean and comfortable and I enjoyed my two nights there. As for the location, there is no shortage of restaurants on Richmond Highway (US Rt. 1), south of the property. There was a diverse offering of ethnic cuisine, several large chain restaurants and fast food options. Just how much did I enjoy my stay? I plan to return.....
