The resort is a peaceful retreat surrounded by trees and spice plantations. A bridge greets you when you enter the resort, transporting you to the hotel lobby. I stayed in a villa with a temperature controlled pool. The villa was located close to the restaurant and reception, making it suitable for people with mobility issues (I have read other reviews of the property and learnt that some other rooms in the are not as accessible). The private pool in the villa was well-maintained and cleaned again upon my arrival. It was a cloudy and windy day, and the sound of rustling leaves added to the tranquil ambiance while I relaxed in the pool. The villa also featured a spacious bathroom. I had opted for the Modified American Plan (MAP). The restaurant was okay, with an artistic outdoor seating area, though the food could certainly use some improvement. I stayed for just one night and was overall satisfied with my experience. The plunge pool villa was definitely the highlight of my stay. P.S. This resort is ideal for those seeking peace and quiet, as it lacks entertainment options (there is no TV in the rooms, and the hotel offers few activities.). If serenity is what you seek, this is a good place.

Worst experience with showering, limited food in buffet, even 2 star hotels or resorts give good services. Staff is worse, even themselves doesn't know what service the resort provides. Very poor staff and hospitality, when complaining to them, they give silly reasons and laugh at our back. I read google reviews, many have specified bad experience with showering but then too very strange that the resort is not taking care of the issue. Seems they least care for the reviews or for the guests convinience. Never to go at any Amritara property from now on. Seriously never been to anything this bad ever.

Nice place. The food was nice and the place is very beautiful. The only problem is that when we had gone there to book, we asked them to show us a room for 2, the elegant room. They showed us the room they have for 3 occupants which is a little bigger and bathroom was better, at the time they did not say it was for 3 occupants and when we payed and were going they gave us a smaller room. We had to fight a little and tell them that they should have shown us the room that they were going to give not some random room. In the end we got the room we had liked initially. But it was a little unpleasant. Overall the people were very nice. The house keeping staff is friendly. Apart from this little hiccup I would say it was a good place. They have rabbits and ducks at property and we could go and see them as well.

On behalf of my family, I thank you all for your hospitality, especially the executives with whom we had interacted during our short stay in Shalimar Spice Garden, Thekkady, Keralam from 27th April to 1st May. We enjoyed our holidays thoroughly well. The staff are very courteous, well mannered and polite. In my opinion, success of any service outlet or unit especially a hotel or a resort or any dwelling place for that matter depends on the staff. In that respect, Shalimar Spice Garden scores very well. It has an excellent team. Keep up the good work. I would also like to add that I have no hesitation at all to recommend this beautiful " Natural Resort " in Thekkady to any tourist or holiday makers or to business establishments who would like to conduct small meetings or organise family get-togethers in a serene, calm and quiet atmosphere. My fifth visit and like allways it's a place where one can never get bored of.. The location,staff and rooms excellent. All thanks to Mr. Gireesh and his team for ensuring that our stay was memorable.... Definitely 5 stars

My friends and I stayed here for 2 nights and enjoyed keeping in shape with all the steps. We loved the cottages and the food was great and the staff were helpful. There was not A/C but we did have a fan and the temperatures were decent in this time of year. It was a good place to stay while we had tours of the spice and coffee plantation.

A charming property of individual bungalows, set in beautiful greenery. The pool is right at the top of the property, which might make access tricky for people having difficulty climbing stairs (also: sunbeds are laid out ready with 2 towels each, and that seems a little bit of a waste, given that people maybe stay for short periods by the pool and then they have to be washed without really being used?) There is a kind of moat to walk across to access the hotel, in which there are wonderful datura plants and some geese. If you walk out of the property to the right and then down one of the little lanes, you get to see some beautiful things, wild coffee, chilli and more. Generally the hotel can be a little chaotic, with check-in/out and breakfast orders but there is a charm that overrides that. Wi-Fi is erratic. Beds are very comfortable. We took the early boat on Lake Periyar, it was perhaps the least interesting venture we had during our stay.

Wonderful place in nature. Eccellent food and service. We stayed here with our family for two nights. Well appointed cottages - great bathrooms. We sure will come back again. Thank you very much for your efforts
