State Beach Resort & Spa

I had a wonderful experience at State Beach Resort in Kannur. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, making my stay very comfortable. The breakfast each morning was delicious, offering a great start to the day. The resort's peaceful setting is perfect for relaxation, exactly what I was looking for. Just a heads-up, it's about an hour from the airport, so plan accordingly for early flights. Highly recommend this resort for a tranquil retreat.

Huge open sea facing cliff with a well planned structure giving a feel of being on a pier…decent car parking, ample tiled open space with sitting facility facing sea…well set rooms and shopping centre. Small restaurant, well furnished with limited sitting but elegantly done… Professional service, elaborate menu covering different parts of our country, Pan Asian and continental. We tried their Cream of mushroom soup….perfectly done. Got kerala ****ttas from kerala menu and Dragon chicken from their panasian menu…. The Porottas looked like frozen ones heated on tawa…unevenly burnt The chicken in the dragon chicken was too hard difficult to tackle even by using bare hands…. This was brought to the notice of the ***agement…the chief chef came to our table and apologised. He came back with a perfectly done dragon chicken….appreciate the ***agement for their swift response…. Finished the dinner with fruitsalad topped up with ice cream…yummy Ambience 10/10 Service 10/10 Facilities 9/10 Food 8/10 Pricing Fine dining Overall 9/10 Personally got the feel of being on Pier 39 SFO….

Worst place to stay. Disgusting and horrible smell in rooms. Pathetic and poor reception. I am going to contact my card provider to refund us our money as ******* was totally useless in getting a refund organised as the place was not as described and it stinks of urine. They try and mask the smell using mothballs. Read the reviews properly and do not stay here ! This place is used as a cheap hangout for Bachelors from Bangalore IT firms and is not fit for purpose for Business and or Family Travellers.

This hotel is a complete NO for people to stay as it does not give what they show. Rooms in very bad state, breakfast is never there and furnitures are all broken. Staff is rude and bluffs alot. They are encashing money only because of the location they have. Apart from that they are fooling customers and charging money. PLEASE DO NOT EVEN BOOK THIS HOTEL.

We had booked 3 rooms here for 2 nights, one was supposed to be triple accommodation as per website. The location of the property is superb beyond words. The outer façade of the property is well designed aesthetically. Everything except the rooms were a disappoin**ent. The rooms were too small, congested, broken cupboard(yes with one door of the almirah missing). The sitting height of the bed and mattress was too high, one has to literally jump on to the bed to either sit or sleep. The bathroom was a big disappoin**ent, the pot and the shower clubbed together in one corner, no space to move around. Too much space saving. Services were good, food quality was really good. Lovely ambience to sit in the common porch or kabana and watch the sea and the sun set or sun rise. Barring the rooms, everything was good about this property. Hope they do something about these small congested rooms. Would definitely recommend for the location and view and of course the food.

Stayed here for a night enroute to Kochi. The pictures are much better than the actual rooms, probably taken at the time when they were new. While the design and look is well curated, the maintenance is bad. The air-conditioning took 4 hours to come to a bearable level of 25/26 Deg. The hot water kettle did not work even after 2 changes, so no tea this morning. Breakfast was passable at best. The price we paid at 6200 was equal to what I paid at a five star property in ***galore the previous night.. At best this should be half of that.

The location of the hotel is very good. It’s overlooking the sea. My sister and I had booked the suite for one night stay. The view was good but the corner room has a better view. We had called to get the best view room but they said at that time that we have got the best. There must be some miscommunication there or the room wasn’t available. Anyhow. We loved the room and the decor. It was huge and it’s decorated with care. The eating space is nice too. Food was good. And the seating area over looking the sea is amazing too. But I must say that the hospitality was not good. We had requested in advance to delay the checkout and let us checkout by 1:30 PM. But the message was not conveyed to the staff who was attending to us. We had to give reference to who we spoke to etc etc. I like hassle free travel experience and hence do all the talking before hand but to no use. When we reached the hotel, we realised that the Wi-Fi network in the room was bad. We had a meeting to attend to the next morning. So requested them to give us a space which would have good connection. The hotel staff was helpful and showed us an unused space near the reception. And said he would unlock it for our use. We check if it had a table, chair, and AC. Next morning, there was some confusion. The ***ager was there and he stared at the staff and talked rudely in their language with us standing infront of them. They opened the space anyways. But said that the ACs aren’t working. And there was no fan. I ran back to them saying please check again because it was steaming hot and attending an important meeting in a saree with sweat dripping from all over would be horrible. I went back with the remote and realised they knowingly didn’t switch the main switch on. Even after all this, they questioned me again on the checkout time. And asked when our meeting would get over. Even if the space was an unused space. I didn’t like this experience at all. It made all the good experience turn sour.

The ambience of the hotel was excellent. It's situated right by the ocean on a cliff, you can hear the constant sound of waves crashing, which is very soothing. The resort staff is very helpful and would attend to our needs. The resort is just 1km away from the beach. Hence the beach is at a walkable distance. Food quality was good but the options for vegetarians was quite limited. The fresh fruit juices served ***** with the breakfast were very energizing.

It was rather disappointing. The staff were not able to respond to our requests promptly, though they indicated that they knew what we wanted. ***y a times they would comeback to check on our requests. There were also electrical safety hazards with switches not in place. Finally when we were checking out, they told us we could not use our international credit card. It was lucky we had sufficient cash on hand but left little for our onward journey.
