We booked through Love Holidays and were slightly sceptical that the computer generated pictures would not reflect the reality. We were wrong. The resort is beautifully designed. Very modern with stylish features inside and out. We had a lovely room with plunge pool. Room cleaned daily. Resort very well maintained. Buffet for both breakfast and evening meals. Good variety. Staff are friendly, polite and efficient. Peaceful. Set slightly uphill away from sea, but good views from pool, restaurant and some rooms. Some lovely beaches nearby. **We would mention that some photographs of the resort are very dated and that today's reality is very different. Also that the hotel is closer to Kouda than Georgiopoulis. Car hire is recommended, as Crete is spectacular inland and on the coast. (Car hire is available close by as well as at airport, as are shops.)

The resort is quaint and personable; the lobby is nice and airy when the doors are open the light breeze will put you sleep if you sit too long (I was waiting for my transportation to pick me up). My room was nice and spacious; although I was solo traveling the room had enough space to accommodate three other guests comfortably. The community pool is spacious (some rooms have private pool) and deep. The pool furniture is more than comfortable for soaking up the sun or just relaxing. The food is ok it’s buffet style (not my cup of tea) it was edible. Breakfast was included with my stay not dinner. Dinner buffet $15 euros, the red wine was good. The bartender Ioanna is the absolute BEST!! Her personality is EVERYTHING! She owns the room like nobody’s business, everyone’s needs are met not just with the drinks but in conversation as well! The resort is in walking distance to the sea, cafes and very very very safe! Visiting Crete stay at Sofia Resort!
