Black Bear Inn

My husband, teen daughter and I spent 9 days in Ketchikan last week. The first four were spent in a hotel in downtown area. The next 4 nights were spent at the Black Bear Inn. We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast like this before. It was in a great location with a beautiful view away from the craziness of the cruise tourist but convenient to everything. We enjoyed the back deck and jacuzzi. Our daughter loved going down to water and just watching the boats and cruise ships come by. Nicole and Jim welcomed us into their home and we felt so welcomed and comfortable we didnt want to leave. I know we will continue to be friends with them forever. I wish we would have spent the whole time at the Black Bear Inn. I hope one day to return and take my other two adult children. Where you stay matters!!! And this is definitely a great place to stay.

My husband and I called Black Bear Inn, home, for three days. Such a beautiful and peaceful experience. This inn is a work of art, inside and out. The gardens, patios and outdoor living spaces are clean and well kept. The view of the water of the narrows is serine and so relaxing. Breakfast was delicious. Our room was perfect, with every detail imaginable. Our hosts, Jim and Nicole, were wonderful! Very knowledgeable of the area with advice and suggestions. We enjoyed our visits with them every day. We always looked forward to returning to the peace and quiet of the Inn after busy days in town. Anyone who stays at Black Bear Inn will leave with the best memories of a beautiful place in Alaska.

My husband and I traveled to Ketchikan, Alaska to visit my daughter. We stayed at the Black Bear Inn and had an incredible time. The owners were friendly and made us feel at home immediately. My husband has a bad back and traveling is painful. He sat in the Spa each night and this helped him with his back. The hotel was clean and our room was very spacious which allowed my daughter to come stay with us while we were there. A breakfast was provided each morning and it was a pleasure to walk around the outdoor area to see the birds and take in the water views. We were provided information on restaurants and places to go during our stay cannot wait for an opportunity to visit again!

My husband and I spent a week at the Black Bear Inn and absolutely loved it! Nicole and Jim are both so warm and welcoming. I can't say enough good things about them or their property. We stayed in the cabin because we wanted a full kitchen during our trip and were very impressed by how cozy and well equipped it was. Nicole clearly puts a lot of thought into what her guests will need during their stay. We especially appreciated the fluffy robes! The property is right on the water with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the view. We frequently started our mornings with a cup of coffee down by the water and ended it with a glass of wine in the same spot. We even saw some seals swimming by a few times! In addition to providing a beautiful place to stay, Nicole also offered recommendations for tours and activities during our stay. We did almost everything on her list and enjoyed ourselves immensely. We were very sad to leave and will absolutely stay there again if we (hopefully when!) we find ourselves back in Ketchikan.

A beautiful bed and breakfast! You felt like you were home. Has every amenity possible.Such a beautiful rexlaxing setting that is not in town. But only a drive away to check out downtown Ketchikan. The hostess were great and had a delicious breakfast waiting for us. Very helpful and knoweledge about place to see and the best dining places to experience. Would highly recommend

My husband, daughter and I stayed in the Bunkhouse for a week. Truly, they had EVERYTHING we needed. It was a home away from home, only better, because it came with all the beauty of Ketchikan. We were very comfortable. Nicole and Jim, the owners, were an absolute delight and ever so helpful. We hope to enjoy another pleasant stay there again because we still have a wish list of adventures we hope to have there. Highly recommend this place!

This was our second trip here. Although we have many friends and family in town , I love to stay here for the coziness and the beautiful views and the attention to detail of this inn. Nicole and Jim are lovely people and truly want to make your stay as comfortable as possible. All guests are kind and considerate of each other which we really appreciate! We will be back, always! Highly, highly recommend!

Nicole and Jim are great hosts. Their knowledge of the area helps you tailor your trip to meet your needs. We wanted to see Ketchikan away from the cruise ship chaos and the Black Bear Inn, along with guidance from Nicole and Jim, helped us do that. Location is amazingly beautiful and close enough to the airport without being on top of it. The Inn Itself is beautiful, cozy and well maintained. It was nice to return from a long hike, open the windows or sit on the deck and listen to the sound of the waves hitting the shore and watching eagles fly by. Very relaxing. I will miss talking with Jim and Nicole.

My family had a wonderful experience while staying at The Black Bear Inn. When I first called to book our stay, Nicole spent over 20 minutes on the phone with me telling me all the things we can do while staying there and the best place to get a car rental. When we arrived early, she and Jim took our luggage and got it into our room as soon as it was ready while we were out exploring. Nicole and Jim were wonderful to talk and interact with, and went above and beyond to make us feel at home and have our needs met. We had our son come last minute and Nicole went out of her way to make it work and make him feel invited and cared for. She even followed up with an email to check on his health as he had an injury while visiting. Jim went out of his way to let us know when wildlife, such as Orcas, were close by so that we had the opportunity to see and experience it. We loved the open kitchen for breakfast with the many choices provided. We loved our room, our porch with the amazing views of the ocean, and the big bathroom that was stocked with everything you could possibly need. We tell everyone to go visit Ketchikan and stay at the Black Bear Inn. It has been our best bed-and-breakfast experience so far! We HIGHLY recommend a stay here!
