Somervreug

Somervreug is the best guest house in Knysna and one of the best in South Africa. Service and accommodation was excellent.

One word: Perfect! From check-in until leaving (with a heavy heart) - we loved every minute. Amazing views from the room, great breakfast, lots of recommendations from Wendy, the manager - a wonderful old lady with lots of life in her eyes. Somervreug - we will meet again!

Somervreug is an absolute hidden gem. Pleasantly surprised by the actual accuracy of the boutique hotel- in terms of being rated a five star ⭐️, it absolutely lives up to that. The kitchenette is very small but functional and the lounge area was the least used space, it was basically just a couch. • The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and everything was meticulously seen to as far as tv’s and en-suite bathrooms in every room goes, aircons, Charlotte Reese amenities and luxurious white robes in all 3 bathrooms! The breakfast was good, obviously limited because we are only halaal eating guests. But they did try their very best. The owner's son Louis- comes second to none as our breakfast mascot and highlight to the start of our morning. We all looked forward to his friendly banter and extremely helpful and sunny demeanor. He was an absolute charm. The staff were warm and friendly, and the areas are well designated for privacy and location is centralized. We had a ball of a time and would HIGHLY recommend Somervreug big and small families alike. Disliked · Wendy who basically manages the place was unfortunately a little salty on our arrival- we were told to initially park by the staff who checked us in in a certain area to offload all our luggage, and whilst doing so, Wendy arrived from somewhere into out unit and proceeded to kind of got totally annoyed with us for parking in her spot which wasn’t even marked as reserved or anything of the sort. We actually had to move the vehicle before actually offloading our luggage. So, unfortunately, that first impression did put a damper on things for us. Wendy's attitude however did warm up during our stay though thereafter, but she did blow hot and at times cold and was finicky about silly little things with us which became annoying at times. Having said that it still did not do enough to put damper on a lovely place to stay.

It was a perfect stay, nice location with a great view. Our host Wendy was very kind, helpful and pleasant. We enjoyed our stay very much. Highly recommended! We even decided to stay one more night, 100% glad to have stayed there.

Wendy wow!!!!Siphe wowww!!!!Team Somervreug Wow!!!!!!There are no words to express how fantastic this place is...The view,the rooms ,the atmosphere and the care is beyond our expectations...Its worth every cent as a local in SA has to spend I'd say it deserves more credit.Its been an amazing journey ❤️

We spent a few days at Somerveug. Lovely spacious bedroom with fantastic view over the Knysna waterfront and lagoon. Wendy was very attentive and a great help in booking restaurants. Can highly recommend for a great stay.

Somervreug Guesthouse is a very nice decorated lovely place with great views over Knyskna. Wendy is a wundertul host wich gives a lot of good recommendations what to do in the area. we will come again!

We had the most pleasant days here. Stunning rooms, very clean, stylish and big. The view from our room was amazing over the Knysna lagoon. Best is the manager Wendy looking after you and making you feel like home. She recommended wonderful things to do.
