Olympia Mare

The stay was perfect. The hotel is located in a beautiful quiet area. The staff and owner were great and accommodating, the room was cleaned regularly. Private beach was picturesque and the sea was ideal for swimming. The hotel is in a walking distance from Kardamena making it perfect for people who are looking for quiet stay, but also want to go for dinner into the city.

It’s a cliche to say I wish we could’ve stayed longer, but this really was the case of this excellent family hotel. We had allocated just three nights and almost as soon as we checked and realised this just wasn’t long enough. It is a very comfortable and welcoming hotel That has a relaxed, personal field to it, and Nikos looked after us very well indeed. Location – very good. It is a 20 minute walk along the sea into town. This is fine during the day as there are pavements, but we used to get a taxi home from the town afterwards for safety. It cost €9 but was well worth it. The good thing about this is that you are secluded and have a lot of open grounds right from your doorstep down to the sea. There are lots of sun loungers available and you can just drag them whenever you want whether it be sun or shade. This was one of the favourite parts of the stay. There is even a barbecue and an outdoor table for your convenience! Apar**ent – very spacious and extremely comfortable. We chose a ground floor one, and this was a good choice as you walk straight from your living area out into the gardens. It was extremely quiet, except for the lovely sound of bird song and our terrace was very comfortable for a couple of hours in the morning and evening. The bathroom is quirky but has everything you need along with good toiletries. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept well over three nights. There are two air-conditioning units although we only used the one in the bedroom which was very effective. Wi-Fi – free for unlimited devices and no password needed. it isn’t the fastest I’ve ever used but more than good enough to stream the Internet, emails and even video. All in all, we had a wonderful short stay here and would return in a heartbeat. This is not your average hotel, but one that cares greatly about you enjoying your time and it is a very easy place to relax.

Nice welcome from Nikos and super helpful with information about the town. Apar**ents are on the private beach. Clean and comfortable and quiet. 20 mins walk from town, bit tricky in places (footpath not great) but do-able. Thank you for a lovely week’s holiday!

I am writing this review to inform fellow travellers with children and not to give any negative remark to this establishment which seems lovely and we would have loved to stay at. I emailed Olympia Mare with a few enquiries and the owner promptly wrote back to inform me that from this year they don’t accept children younger than 4. I have asked if it were possible to make an exception since we are not planning to be in Kos in super high seasons but this was not possible. Very disappointing for us, also because this policy is not clearly mentioned on their website but need to be ascertained from small prints in the booking form… so we got taken a bit by surprise. Ah well, children grow fast they say! It’s the second time I come across a similar non-negotiable “no-children” policy in Kos and I find it quite difficult to understand: why would be a 2-years-old be more disruptive that a 4-years-old or a teenager with friends? Go figure.

This hotel is possibly one of the best I’ve ever stayed in. And believe me, I’ve stayed in a few! I’ve just got home from a six day visit to Kos for my niece’s wedding. The wedding party were all booked to stay at the Blue Lagoon complex, which although 5 star, wasn’t the kind of place I fancied. I found Olympia Mare on google and thought the reviews were good, so booked. I’m so glad I did. Nikos, the owner, is a brilliant host. I am disabled so requested a ground floor accommodation- TICK. I knew I was arriving early evening and would be tired so asked if he would get some basics in for me, TICK. I arrived to discover a fridge with all I would need. He also provided several bottles of water! The apar**ent was HUGE! I couldn’t believe how much space. A lovely kitchen area with everything provided, a dining area and lounge space, a separate bathroom and massive bedroom with super-king bed. Excellent air-con and small patio with comfy chairs and coffee table. The view is gorgeous- straight at the sea which is literally 50 yards away. Nikos arranged my car hire and had the guy (Rob) come to the hotel to sort the paperwork and deliver the car. Driving around Kos is easy and the trip up the road to Kardamena centre takes less than 3 minutes. I also drove through the town and up through the mountain to Pily and on another evening up to Zia. I drove several times to Kefalos and also to Kos. The whole island is full of interesting places to explore. Back to Olympia Mare: if you want a quiet and relaxing vacation where you’ll feel safe and your custom is appreciated, then this hotel is perfect. They have Two Stars but it is worth Five for the hospitality alone. Extremely clean, they have COVID safe procedure in place and the ladies who clean the rooms are simply delightful. I will definitely be returning. Oh and Nikos’ mum for whom the hotel is named is quite divine!

Un piccolo paradiso fronte mare coccolati dal rumore delle onde e dalle cicale e coccolati da Nico e sua moglie Monica con la loro gentilezza e simpatia. In più macchina del caffè espresso con cialde nuove ogni giorno, studios pulitissimi nuovi ed accoglienti.aria condizionata inclusa nel prezzo, per non altare del kit di cortesia da bagno con prodotti ottimi all’aloe e all’olio di oliva! Un piccolo gioiello a Kardamena appena al di fuori del caos cittadino! In più i gestori parlano italiano!

Una location davvero meravigliosa e ottima soluzione per le famiglie: appartamenti comodi, ben disposti, freschi, ben attrezzati con pulizia giornaliera. Il tutto proprio sulla spiaggia, con lettini disponibili all’ombra degli alberi e mare meraviglioso. Doccia dolce disponibile sul prato inglese che separa la spiaggia dagli appartamenti. Proprietario super: cordiale, disponibile e attento!!! Vino di benvenuto e latte e biscotti in camera per i bambini considerata la tarda ora di arrivo….un’attenzione non proprio scontata. Per una vacanza non si può chiedere di meglio!! Poco distante da Kardamena. Unico suggerimento: una più comoda doccia in luogo delle vasche comunque funzionali e qualche richiamo più caratteristico nell’arredo.
