Taigh na Mara Bed and Breakfast

We had a wonderful time during our two nights at the b and b. Carol was welcoming and offered great tips about things to do and see. The room was very comfortable and the food was great. Including the homemade cookies she placed in our room each day! Sitting outside with a glass of wine and listening to the sounds of the waves was so relaxing, and walking the beach was incredible.

We had a wonderful stay with Carol. The location, surrounded by a beautiful garden and quick access to a very long beach, is very good. Carol is a perfect hostess who also gave us lots of tips for local activities. The breakfast was plentiful and very good.

Such a lovely quiet place, bright, clean and fresh. Carol has thought of everything, torches, beach towels and buckets & spades! Breakfast was a calm and relaxing experience. Carol was also very knowledgable and informative about the surrounding area and she made some excellent recommendations. I hope we get chance to visit again. Thank you.

Carol is very hospitable. A relief to experience. The apartment is neat and clean. The highlight was breakfast because Carol prepares almost everything herself. The Coromandel area is nice and has beautiful cozy beaches. What was also fun to experience were all those people who dig holes at low tide to get hot water.

One of the nicest B&Bs I’ve ever went to. Lovely host, cosy bedroom and lots of nice chats. Carol is the best! You can even have a nice homemade dinner after a long drive, if you do don’t want to drive into town anymore. I loved the heated mattress.

We had a very pleasant stay. Carol was so nice and helpful! Thanks to her, we had an amazing day on Coromandel peninsula. The breakfast was fabulous and there is a beautiful beach just in front of the house.

We had two wonderful days there -- a perfect location to explore Coromandel (kajak tour in Hahei to Cathedral Cove, Waiau Kauri Grove and Waiau Falls ). Our host Carol gave us a lot of very good hints for our journey and provided us a wonderful dinner.

My husband and I, along with our friends, stayed with Carol just before Christmas and had a wonderful visit. Carol was very welcoming and made us feel at home immediately. The rooms were really well presented and had everything we needed including a powerful shower, hairdryer, comfortable bed, a mini fridge, dressing gowns, torches, and tea \ coffee making facilities, with home made cookies. Carol has a lovely garden and an outdoor seating area. We arranged in advance for an evening meal, Asian chicken followed by a lovely dessert of mini pavlovas, with most of the vegetables coming from Carol’s garden. Carol had gone to a lot of effort and the meal was really delicious. For breakfast we had homemade muesli and yogurt, eggs and bacon and toast with a huge selection of homemade and tasty jams and marmalades. There is a lovely sandy beach just a short walk across a bridge and there is a good restaurant, Luke’s Kitchen, just a short distance away. Carol was very attentive and an excellent host and cook. We would have no hesitation in returning again when we are next in the area. Our friends, Dave and Su, have already recommended Carol’s place to their friends who will be visiting New Zealand shortly.
