We stayed here for our 50th wedding anniversary and what a great choice it turned out to me. Recently renovated, this boutique hotel shows great attention to detail. The Junior suite was spotless and the bed supremely comfortable - extra long beds for those who struggle with the standard size. Large walk in shower and high end fittings. Large choice of breakfast, including scrambed eggs, crispy bacon pieces etc. and the usual patisserie, cereals, fruit, cheese, charcuterie. Something for everyone whatever their taste. Three things I noticed in La Rochelle - bikes, scooters and suitcases on wheels while folks trekked the distance from their hotel to the large public car parks. Icing on the cake - private parking inside the hotel - not many of those choices in La Rochelle so close to the old port. Staff were friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommended.

The hotel is really lovely having undergone a total refurbishment recently, The room was slightly on the small side and being located at the front of the building it was quite noisy with late night revellers! The staff at the front desk were excellent and all in all it was an enjoyable overnight stop.

Great communication from when we booked. Dog friendly and car parking onsite all very helpful. Lovely welcome. Room was very clean and tidy. The bed was amazing had a great night sleep. Breakfast was delicious and had a great selection. Went to restaurant in the square behind Le Panier de Crabes. The food was amazing so fresh. There is a wonderful food market 10 minutes walk. Amazing produce. Can’t recommend enough.

We went to this hotel on a friend’s recommendation and we were not disappointed! A really lovely boutique hotel, right in the heart of old La Rochelle, literally yards from the harbour, it is ideally placed to explore the old streets, buildings, shops, bars and restaurants. The staff were superbly helpful from first check-in to last check-out. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is finished to a very high standard and the rooms, while not huge, had ample space for us and all the amenities we’d need for our stay. The rain showers are super and it’s the best hairdryer ever. Breakfast is a self-serve affair, with the usual range of continental offerings, but with bacon, scrambled eggs and baked beans on offer. You can also boil your own egg, just how you like it. Parking is available, and while it may seem a bit pricey, it is secure and in the centre of this beautiful old city.

Excellent in every way! Staff are very welcoming, efficient and helpful. A rare thing these days! Hotel is beautiful, clean and super-comfy. Our bedroom was great and the a/c worked!!! Hasn’t seen this in ages! Beds very comfortable, shower brilliant and very quiet room. We had a couple of cocktails before going out for dinner; great cocktails!! Breakfast was really great too; lots of choice including fresh bread, fruit, juices, cheeses… wow! Again, the usual offerings in other hotels are sad and stale. Not here! We will definitely be back!!! Thank you to the team at Hotel St Nicolas!!

A great location for walking around La Rochelle and the added bonus of on-site parking. Our booking was for a Superior Room, however I felt that the room was on the small size and the bathroom lighting was far from superior as were the towels .. very thin and one had a hole. New towels need to be on top of the “to do” list. Breakfast was excellent and the welcome cocktail was appreciated.

Lovely boutique style hotel perfectly positioned to explore La Rochelle on foot. Staff very helpful. Nice breakfast. Gym small and lacking equipment but if that’s not an issue for you, no problem. Great other than that.

I can honestly say, this is the best hotel I have stayed in in France ! The building has a classic facade and a contemporary interior. The staff are absolutely fantastic ! Loïcia and Lizzie were so helpful and gave us all the information we needed, they are a credit to your establishment! Loïcia also makes a wicked cocktail! The breakfast had a good range of products and the bread was typically of great quality. Everything about the hotel was of great taste and warm and friendly staff made our stay a pleasure. We had our dog with us and they are completely relaxed about the dog in the foyer and lounge area. The rooms are lovely and the beds comfortable. We even got upgraded at no extra cost. I can't fault this wonderful hotel. Keep doing what you are doing so well. We will be back ! Have recommended to all my friends and family David
