Home Hotel Lava Hot Springs

Quaint motel with double soaking tub filled by hotspring in bathroom. Clean and well decorated despite being a historical hotel . Convenient drive to door. Beds comfortable roo. Very small ,no room for suitcase. Coffee is in main lobby. Convenient location in walking distance to anything in fun town

Hotel is in good location but a bit noisy, small room with only fair bed comfort. Steep stairs to get to second floor. Not hotel's fault but you get gouged staying in Lava. 8% sales tax expected but 3% city tax, 4% tourism tax and the worst another 4.5% resort fee tax. Be prepared to shell out a lot in tax.

We stayed in room 112, one of the “courtside” rooms. By “courtside” they mean parking lot, but this does allow you to pull right up to your door to unload. Aside from the historic building, the Home Hotel is an old motel that has been redecorated. The room was a good size with mostly newer furniture and very clean. The shower has been redone and is larger than the one featured on the website. The bathroom could desperately use some towel racks or hooks. We had a private patio with a hot tub outside our room. I apparently failed to read the room description well, as it does state that the hot tub’s jets do not work. The hot tub looks very old and the patio area is rather run down looking. Wish I hadn’t paid extra for this. There is a brand new shared 8 person hot tub on the premises right off a nice large deck with tables, BBQ grill, etc. The hotel is very close to the public hot pools and there are lots of restaurants and shops within very easy walking distance. Lava Hot Springs is a very walkable town.

Had a great time with extended family members. We had so much fun, had plenty of room and everything was clean and well thought out. I felt like I was in a home that had been remodeled by a famous person on TV. The home was fresh, clean, and up to date. The location to Lava Hot Springs was perfect. It was nice we could come and go as we pleased to the Springs knowing we had yummy food, snacks and comfortable beds waiting for us at the home . Things the would have been nice is there weren’t any cooking sheets for baking. It would be nice if the was a garbage disposal. Not a big deal just makes food prep easier. A boot tray under the bench would be nice since there was plenty of snow and our boots were wet. A stay here is perfect for an extended family trip. The kids loved the family room and we hardly saw them. Great times for the cousins. Lastly. Go to the restaurant and buy the warm cinnamon rolls. The best I have ever eaten. We shared the 4 huge rolls, but after 1 bite no one wanted to share. We will definitely return! Sorry no pictures. If I wasn’t cooking, eating or relaxing after the springs I was at the springs. Perfect place to relax after the healing soaks while snow was falling.

My husband and I decided to be spontaneous, and found "Home Hotel" and we had never noticed it before now. The room was perfect it was roomy the bathtub was huge and everything was clean. The hosts were very nice to work with. And it was walking distance to everything. And our parking was right in front of our door to our hotel room. The stay was wonderful!

1st off go get a camping spot over this. The bed is no different then sleeping on the ground. 2nd the bathroom is so small, I barely fit in it. No tub in the economy room just a tiny shower that I also barely fit into. I would rather stay in a motel 6. This was our first and probably last stay in the Home Hotel. There are many better places to stay in lava for the same or a better price.

Lava has become a travelers place to be so in the last few years it has boomed with tourists. Be sure to book early to be sure to get a room! The Home Hotel is a nice hotel to stay while in Lava it's close to eating, the park, bars, swimming and floating the river!

Pros: nice staff Unlimited hot chocolate/tea/coffee Huge tub Next door to lava hot springs hot pools Cons: There was a big green booger on the shower curtain. So gross! If they're not even changing out the shower curtain, what else are they not cleaning??? The bed was by far the worst bed I have ever slept in. I could tell it was just a cheap, crappy mattress. We could feel every springs and it was hard as a rock. Very uncomfortable. The walls are very very thin. We could hear someone else's tv.

I've been travelling (on business) in S.E. Idaho for over 30 years. I was lucky early on to find Lava Hot Springs and go out of my way to stay there when I can because of the small town atmosphere and of course the outstanding hot springs for which the town is named. Nothing better after a long day driving and making calls than a good soak at Lava Hot Springs. Over the years I've stayed at a few of the many hotels in the city. The Home Hotel has been consistently clean, convenient and a good value.
