Heavy hearted and with a sad eye I have to write this review. My family and I used to come to this hotel for generations and I was very excited as I booked the stay for my father/his wife and my son/myself for two rooms for a week. First I used *********** , but as the airline cancelled our flights back home to Singapore I had to change the dates for our stay at Palm Beach Hotel too. I wrote over 3 emails with change of date request to the hotel , which were ignored. This should have been a red flag already. After calling directly 2 times, the staff was friendly and helped me to cancel my reservation over *********** and I made a new reservation DIRECTLY over the hotel. The hotel website in English showed the a little old, 60 year flair hotel, as I had it in my memories. So I was happy to go ahead. Arriving at the hotel I was in tears as I saw that the pool was fenced off and a smelly green soup. Coming all the way from Singapore for a beach holiday in Italy, I expected beach and swimming pool, as advertised on the website. I immediately confronted the friendly reception staff and got explained that this year the owner from the house in front of the hotel, to which the pool belongs, refused to rent it out to them , that’s why it’s fenced off. - and none of the hotels fault. I was sad, but as the beach is close enough, I agreed to stay, tired from the long trip. During the stay we were pleased by the friendly staff, the close location to the beach, never the less; the hotel needs renovation. Old rooms, carpet flooring, we had to deal 2 days with broken stuff in the room, no water in the rooms provided( but hey; a nespresso coffee machine! ) wifi is very weak. Breakfast was every day the same and coffee from the coffee automat , which is kinda disappointing in Italy ) It’s not worth the money , even the staff does an amazing job. Checking *********** ; pool is not advertised, no problem. But as my booking was made directly with the hotel itself; with 3 times personal touching points , I was checking the hotel website again ( the official and new one) in English, and saw that the outdoor pool is still advertised. By the “Frankfurt scale” of discount requests on holiday ; non existent or faulty pool adds up to a 20% discount request from the guest which can be requested by law. As a honest guest on the check out day I went early in the morning, showed the staff, that on the official new website on the English page the outdoor pool was still visible and advertised, on which I based my booking on , and that I had no information from the hotel itself , even after 3 times personal contact. I took screenshots of the page, a video scrolling trough the page and have witnesses that the page advertised the pool. Even showed it to the staff. I requested a discount, as I was disappointed and the hotel clearly at fault after false advertising on their website. Coming back in the evening to pay ; things went very bad.
