This hotel is situated in the centre of the town and was very convenient for everything. The room was comfortable and despite being on the street was quiet. The breakfast is served in a delightful room on the first floor, and there is also a restaurant for dinner.

Hotel Engel in Lindau may be a nice place to stay at, if one gets there, but their customer orientation is more than questionable. Note: As I haven´t stayed there, I can´t comment on rooms & location and have therefore given 3 of 5 stars to be fair. I need to comment on the abysmal customer service I´ve experienced though. Here´s why: I booked 3 nights to attend a conference. 12 days prior to the conference, the organizer called to postpone the event. Unfortunately for me, that was 2 days after the free cancellation period ended. I called the hotel to ask if they could still waive the cancellation fee or move my reservation to the new date in the coming year. They said that´s too far out for them and they weren´t particularly nice about it either. I´ve sent another message after I cancelled through the booking platform and paid 80% of the total cost, giving them the new date for the conference and asking if they could make a reservation and reduce the future cost by at least a part of the cancellation fee. I didn´t even get a reply. It wouldn´t have cost them anything to discount my future stay AND they would have probably had a very happy customer. Instead they chose to exercise their right (which they have, no doubt, although 2 weeks prior to travel cancellation fees of 80% are questionable at best), but they´ve lost at least one potential customer plus family and friends. Not a good outcome for either party. :-(

We ate here twice during our week in Lindau. The first time we were lucky to get a table, but we were squeezed in between two other couples in the downstairs room. We booked a table for the second evening and were told it would be upstairs. We didn't realise that meant we would be sharing a table with other couples. The food on both occasions was good and the helpings enormous.

Excellent small boutique hotel with renovated rooms and great breakfast. Breakfast is ordered the night before from a menu. Croissants are freshly baked and were delivered from a local bakery while we ate. Great service!

I was there with my family for lunch and we spent a very pleasant time! The food is fresh (fish from the Lake Constance and it is made of the best ingredients. Also, the dishes are served in generous portions, especially the Wiener schnitzel which my children couldn’t finish even though they love it.

I just have to think what was nicer…the staff or the hotel itself. Both a very lovely! We staid for one night during a round trip at LakeConstance. The hotel is located directly in the center of the old town of Lindau and offers a very nice traditional Bavarian restaurant. The house is historic, so dot not expect very big rooms or an air condition. It has a lift, however and a phantastic roof terrace overlooking the old town. Breakfast was a la carte with pre-ordering the evening before. Ingredients were very fresh and locally sourced. A highlight for sure is the young and very nice staff. If you have a chance dine at the restaurant-very authentic and delicious Bavarian dishes! We will come back! Only challenge is getting there by car and the parking, as the hotel is located in a pedestrian area.

This restaurant was recommended by the shoe shop down the street. Such a good recommendation! Roast pork was succulent and flavourful. Scnitzel was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. We were seated inside the restaurant (though everyone else opted outside since it was a beautiful day). Small restaurant, cosy decor, hospitable server, we thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

Been here before and will be back next year. Very conveniently located and quiet (after midnight) this is a quaint pension with nice rooms and a good breakfast. There are lots of stairs but that's part of the charm as far as I'm concerned. I think there is an elevator but we never use it. The breakfast this year was a little different as we had to make a choice of what we wanted from a list they gave us at check-in. But don't worry, there is more than enough very good food after all is said and done to fill you up and then some. Staff is always friendly and it is but a five minute walk to our favorite restaurant just down Maximilian Strasse. Certainly worth a stay. I like the complimentary beer or wine when you arrive and the two restaurants they have, one on the ground floor and the other on the next floor up look very authentic and the food they serve is very good.
