Just 2 days before departure to Portugal on September 15, 2021, we called O Artista Boutique to confirm our pre-paid hotel reservation for October 16, 2021. Much to our surprise, the manager (Filipa Esteves) informed us that the hotel was closed. She assured us (over the phone and in writing) that we would be given a refund within 5 business days. We continued email communications with Manager Filipa Esteves through November 2, 2021. All communications have stopped, and we have yet to receive our promised refund. This treatment of guests is totally unacceptable. The fact the hotel did not make any attempt to notify us of the hotel closure prior to our departure for a month long visit is blatantly irresponsible. How was management going to accommodate us when we showed up for check-in when the hotel is closed? Secondly, to refuse our promised refund is flat out FRAUD. My wife and I are still pursuing our refund on January 4, 2022. We have our doubts that we will be successful.
