Astra Village Hotel Suites

The hotel is about 5 minutes taxi ride from the airport making it really convenient. The rooms are clean with everything you need. The pool is great and the sun loungers very comfortable. You can watch incoming planes landing from the pool. People tend to put their towels down before the pool opens, which can be frustrating and means waiting for a lounger if you don’t do that - Tip: if going in July (it was 33 degrees) go to the beach first and then the pool around 4/5pm and you’ll get a lounger and quieter pool. Hotel is within walking distance of both Ammes and Ai Helis beaches which are immaculate. The water is clean and clear. We would definitely return.

We booked Astra Village as we were attending a wedding on the island. On arrival, all seemed lovely. The following morning, breakfast was basic but ok. The room was clean but beds uncomfortable and barely any space for clothing for a family of 4 so we were living out of suitcases. Dinner was ok the first night but after that it was pretty much the same every single night - awful for a weeks stay and not to mention the lack of choice for children, Infact, no choice for children. The drinks machine was continuously broken allowing only sour cherry flavour juice. Advertised with a play park, it consisted of 2 swings which then were unhooked and taken away. Also a children’s play room with toys which doesn’t exist. Entertainment - one night there was a band and that was it. Children were told off for jumping in the pool. Most of the staff are really lovely, apart from 2 ladies who were rude. We booked half board and were with friends who booked all inclusive - god were we glad we didn’t bother with that option! Not worth the money at all as the all inclusive is very limited. Even chips aren’t included if you need something for the kids! This hotel is not child friendly. Would we return? Absolutely never. The best thing about this holiday? The sunbeds around the pool. Not quite the holiday from hell but certainly not the best either. I wouldn’t waste your money on this place. The hotel is located in a very derelict area, nothing around so have to rely on transport if you want to get around. Also - on check out our friends asked for a bottle of water who were then refused! Absolute joke. Kefalonia itself is beautiful, especially down by the harbour.

Lovely hotel, rooms comfortable. All staff were friendly and helpfull. Food was great with lovely fresh salads and homemade soups. Great sunbeds and pool area. Sylvia,Dorian,Kosmos(Bob),Michael and Floris + other restaurant and reception staff fantastic. Shout out to the housekeeping and kitchen staff as everywhere was clean and food was great quality. Remember though, this is a small boutique hotel. Don’t expect a huge selection. Meat and vegetarian catered for. Close to airport, can see and hear planes take off and land but only about 10 in and out each day so not a bother. Would recommend.

We booked Astra for day use only initially. We needed a space due to an early checkout at a villa. We experienced fantastic service and communications, very friendly and prompt. The room we had was very spacious and clean, perfect for a day stop. Little did we know that our flight home would be cancelled....when leaving the front desk told us they had rooms for the night and would welcome us back. After a long wait at the airport, lots of messing about, we rang Astra and headed back. On arrival we were greeted warmly and reallocated our rooms. There were six of us and the made sure we all had appropriate sleeping space. The rooms again, perfect! All clean, tidy and comfortable. Bed was fantastic. They sent extra towels and made sure we had all we needed. We headed into the bar area for food and drinks. Food was very good, we had Gyros sharing platters (amazing) and cocktails. Service was excellent! A lovely relaxed evening after a long, stressful day. Breakfast was good. All that we needed and tasted good. Staff were friendly and polite. Pool are and facilities are fantastic, clean and well presented. Plenty of sun loungers too. Overall, this hotel is super friendly, amazing service and as a customer we felt very well cared for. Nothing was too much trouble. My only complaint is that I didn't book this hotel for my weeks stay in the first place! We will be coming back. This hotel is an amazing find and the staff are even better.

My stay at the hotel was really lovely. I had a great room always clean, thank you to the cleaning staff. I loved the hotel and they have the best sun loungers I have ever had. Lovely large pool which was always clean. Life guard on duty. The breakfast was absolutely fine with usual choice of eggs, toast, croissants, fresh fruit and yoghurt etc. Dinner was ok often the main the course luke warm and the choice a bit repetitive but generally I found it fine. There are couple of tavernas nearby and supermarket adjacent to hotel or another one across the road. Car hire across the road Greekstones were excellent and I would use again. Sandy beach 10 mins walk down the road where you can also get the local bus into Argostoli. Tourist tax is 7 euros per night per room so it is a bit steep for a single person but then we have to pay more all the time for everything. It is very close to the airport 10 mins but everyone seemed to enjoy watching the planes come in and leave - it is not Gatwick so does not cause any problem. I met loads of people and thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would go back.

Please ignore all the recent negative reviews this hotel is amazing ( our 4th visit) nothing is too much trouble , the staff cannot do enough . Spotless throughout and incredibly comfy sun loungers . The food is basic but there are plenty of restaurants around if you don't like whats on offer . I would definitely recommend going half board rather than all inclusive. Thankyou to Dorian the barman on the bar in the day he makes awesome bloody Mary's and Sylvia on the bar in the evening who makes delicious white Russians 😋 Irene you are a very special lady and deserve every success at astra village . This was our first visit to Kefalonia and most certainly won't be our last. The Astra Village and Spa is a small family run hotel, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in helpfulness and integrity. They were on the ball from day1 concerning my food allergy and nothing was too much trouble. Food is delicious and plentiful, and I'm sure even the pickiest of eaters can find something to eat. You will have your moaners wherever you go, but don't take it out on the hotel because you didn't do your research. Personally we loved it here, thank you Anna, Christina, Sylvie, and everyone else

This hotel is absolutely brilliant. The staff are all so helpful and nothing seems too much trouble. They collected us from the airport. We have an awesome room with balcony overlooking the sea. The breakfasts have been really good. We’re just here 2 nights before moving on elsewhere, I’d happily stay longer.

We spent a lovely week here ...our room had the most beautiful views and our bed was comfortable..the little kitchenette is a great addition ...l requested different pillows and they were supplied very quickly ...the hotel and grounds are spotlessly clean ...l am gluten free and the hotel did everything they could to assist me ,the food was fine....a good choice...not as much as the bigger hotels but a good choice everyday ....the first few days there were a couple of noisy families with children who were causing chaos around the pool ....when they left it was quiet this hotel is not suitable for children ...the staff are very helpful and we found them very friendly ...l think if you treat people with respect they treat you the same . On saying that the lady on the bar was grumpy however she was the only one who was....l would return to thus hotel in a heartbeat, but would rent a car....thank you to all the staff ...
