Karavados Beach Hotel

This a solid, reliable, slightly dated three star sort of place made exceptional by a great kitchen and the best customer service I’ve ever had. Everything is spotlessly clean, and everything works. It’s a quarter-mile to a glorious if small beach, and about three-quarters of a mile to the nearest all-purpose store and eaterie (in season only). Around 30 minutes from the airport and a €20 cab ride into Argostoli. The staff are the smiliest, most welcoming and helpful crowd you can imagine, and the in-house food is really tasty, fresh and reasonably priced.

We had a private transfer which is about 20 minutes from the airport. The hotel was very clean and the staff were amazing. Very helpful and told us how to get to places and places to visit. While we were there I asked my girlfriend to marry me and we have booked again for our honeymoon.

My husband and I couldn't have wished for a more suitable holiday. We stayed from 13th to 23rd May 2024 and are still reminiscing about the Karavados Beach Hotel which is beautifully situated with stunning views in a quiet location, and lovely walks nearby. The bus stop is conveniently situated at the hotel entrance for trips into Argostoli, the capital city of Kefalonia, and tours around the island can also be booked from the hotel. We rented a car for four days to allow some flexibility when sightseeing. The hotel and gardens, including the communal pool area, were kept exceptionally clean and tidy by the hardworking cleaners and groundsmen. The hotel is run to a very high standard and all staff - reception, cleaners, catering and bar staff - gave excellent, friendly and helpful service at all times. We stayed half board in very comfortable accommodation and the food was well prepared and really delicious. Looking forward to staying there again in 2025 ......

My girlfriend and myself stayed at the Karavados Beach Hotel for a couples week away in mid May. From the time we arrived to the time we departed we were not disappointed with the hotel at all. Upon checking in we were given a room in block B. A short walk up a hill and we were at our room. The room had three single beds, and we had booked a double, a quick visit to reception and this was sorted straight away. The bed was both comfortable and spacious. The rooms are a little dated, this is true, but they are cleaned daily, and our sheets and towels were changed daily too. The food at the hotel was lovely, and the restaurant staff cannot do enough to ensure you have a good time. We were made to feel welcome each night and greeted like old friends. The drinks were also fairly priced and easily available. There were plenty of sunbeds around the pool, plenty of chance to practice a bit of sun worship. Yes, the poll is a bit on the cold side, but jump straight in and you will soon get used to it. The one thing I would say about the pool is that it gets deep very quickly, making this pool unsuitable for the smaller children. There is a children's pool, but this is aimed at toddlers so is not that big. There is no day time or evening entertainment at the hotel (except on a Monday night when they do Greek night). I would make you aware though that the hotel is very secluded. The nearest shop is approximately 2km away and is all uphill. You will need to get a taxi, bus or hire a car if you want to go to nearby towns. If you want a chilled, relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle though, this hotel is definitely for you. A Bus to Argostoni (the capital) is 2 Euros, and you can see the sea turtles in the bay! On a side note, if you get the chance to do the island tour, taking in the history of the island and visiting the caves, vineyard, Beaches and monastery, I would definitely take it. Its a lovely day trip and can be booked at the hotel for a reasonable price

Having decided on a sunshine break, as opposed to a busier city break, we could not have made a more perfect choice. The Karavados Beach Hotel was just perfect for us. Being May, the hotel was still fairly quiet, but again this was a bonus. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean, with well maintained grounds and gardens. Staff were super friendly and helpful - particularly when one of the receptionists negotiated a great deal on a hire car for us (30 euros per day). Dionysus (Dennis) kept us entertained in the evenings and made the best aperol spritzes we’ve ever tasted!! Karavados itself is very quiet but on the days we didn’t have a car, we were happy to stroll down the hill to the small cove - Agios Thomas, which we found to be truly magical. The sea there shelves gradually and is crystal clear, as it is on most of the island. Great for swimming and snorkelling. We ate 2 nights in a row at one of the tavernas overlooking the beach and the food was superb. If you do wish to explore more of the island, a car is essential and we visited Antisamos beach, Argostoli and Lourdata on the 2’days we had the car. It was very quiet on the roads too, which was a bonus! If you’re after a quiet break, away from the hustle and bustle of other busier resorts - then the Karavados Beach Hotel is the perfect choice - a hidden gem!

We picked two rooms (family of 4 - 2 in each room) to be next to each other but when we arrived the staff put the rooms far apart. We had issues with the door locks. Ants were inside the room. The furniture was dated. The mattress was uncomfortable. The breakfast was okay and there is only one bus that leaves to the city at 9:00 am and coming back at 1:45 every day - so if you miss it, only option is to take taxi which is far more expensive. This hotel really deserves 2 stars. Other than that the location was great the view was great the staff were very very friendly and helpful to our needs and concerns.

A weekend trip away to Karavados beach hotel with 3 friends. A beautiful location with fabulous views of the sea and surrounding countryside. The staff are all lovely and so hospitable. A special thank you to Kristina, Dioniossis (Dennis) and Angelo who were all so lovely, friendly and made our stay one to remember. Dennis you made all our drinks taste perfect and was great company & Angelo our food was delicious and you was lots of fun. Karavados Beach hotel, we will be back. A very quiet and relaxing stay before the season gets going.

Decided on an end of season trip half-board, to somewhere we'd never been before. Excellent rooms with amazing views across the sea. The staff were very attentive and I can't fault the cleanliness of the rooms and the hotel in general. I can't say the bar staff were very friendly. The dining staff however went out of their way to cook vegan food for me, I can't thank them enough and the food was good quality. I would say there's not much at all to do once you come out of the hotel, you really do need to hire a car or get the bus otherwise it's a very long walk to the nearest nice beach ( there's a tiny beach at the bottom of the road but it really is tiny) or even further to the nearest town. My only criticism of the hotel, and it is a big criticism, is that the pool was freezing. It made absolutely no sense as there was a permanent lifeguard on duty. But because there was nobody in the pool he spent all day playing table tennis!! if the management had have increased the pool temperature by just a couple of degrees it would be five out of five.

Fantastic holiday , great hotel, rooms cleaned every day, food lovely, entertainment great, I would realy reccomend this hotel, to anyone, beautiful location, local bus service , staff great, beautiful surroundings, will be going back x
