Always stay at Premier Inn’s when away on business and visiting family, as I know exactly what I’m going to get as far as cleanliness, facilities and food are concerned. Was a little disappointed that the first room we were allocated stank of cigarettes. Reception staff changed our room immediately without any fuss, but was surprised housekeeping hadn’t informed anyone that the room should be taken out of service, as it cannot be sold in that state. Second room was adequate, but was disappointed that my bedside table had not been cleaned, and was full of mug rings. Windows were permanently sealed, and had rather a lot of black mould growth on the frames. Cupboard space for clothes was tiny, and we were hand luggage only on the plane, so we didn’t have much! I realise laundry is out sourced, but the towels smelt scorched! I didn’t want to dry myself with them, but had no option. There was no hotel information or menus in the room like other Premier Inns. At dinner on our first night, they only had two choices of beer. At breakfast on our last day we got up to go and get another hot drink, and said a quick hello to some diners we had met a couple of days before. When we turned round to our table, literally 10feet away, our breakfast had been cleared away, and the table relaid for the next people!! After over 40 years in the hospitality industry myself, I found it irksome, and funny at the same time. We had just run a marathon the day before, I didn’t have the energy to kick up a fuss, so we sat at our relaid table, and finished our breakfast!
