In addition to being a fine hotel in the usual ways, this hotel is also an experience thanks to the art. The art goes beyond being an interesting visual amenity; it’s a theme that runs through all places and aspects of the hotel—it’s part of the rooms, the bar, the restaurant, the lobby, and the gift shop. Our room was comfortable with two exceptions: 1) the layout of the room makes for a tight entrance or exit from the room itself and into or out of the bathroom, and 2) poor soundproofing—we could hear the guest in the next room cough, talk on the phone, etc., and the conversation among the housekeepers in the hallway might as well have been taking place inside our room. Still a lovely hotel and I wouldn’t even try to talk anyone out of staying there, but these drawbacks do detract from the otherwise high quality of the experience.
