Maison Gentile

Well located in the centre of Lucca. Modern beautifully maintained B&B. A large lift on the ground floor. Large rooms with up to date bathroom. Great breakfast included. Wonderful hosts. All the good shopping and restaurants on the doorstep. Very quiet.

We were over for a wedding so unfortunately it was a real flying visit. We loved this place very central to everything and the owner sent us great directions to get to it. The place is really lovely very clean and the breakfast was fab. We can't fault anything we will def be back.

The description of luxury rooms & superior room raises the expectation & we 're not sure what this description is based upon. The rooms are nice enough, very minimal toiletries consisting of a very small soap & tube of shampoo, not helpful for those of us travelling light & plane compliant liquids. Maison Gentile is probably best for one or two night stay, we stayed for a week & we missed having a space to sit. There was no casual seating in any communal area or the bedroom. No drinking glasses in the room although there is a bottle of water each on the first & fourth days when the towels & beds are also changed. We had to be sparing with our use of towels especially the more used smaller ones when we realised that they were not changed that frequently. All of the 5 bedrooms open onto a central dining space where breakfast is served from 8am so it is not possible to have a lie-in once the food is being laid out, from approx 7am. For breakfast there is a nice fresh warm loaf, sliced meats & cheeses, one croissant per guest, a fruit bowl, youghurts, fruit juice, fresh tomatoes, a dispenser of cornflakes, packets of little cakes & sliced bread. All drinks & milk are prepared by Arturo on request. The location of Maison Gentile is excellent, 10-15 minute walk from the railway station & right by the book market on a lovely shopping street. Quiet at night-time. Maison Gentile is located across the first floor & is assessible by lift after going up 4/5 steps in the entrance hallway. Arturo & his partner are helpful & friendly. Unfortunately our bed had a big dip in it so it was more comfortable to sleep top to bottom, the mattress was very soft. There was a nice touch of a gift at the end of our stay but we definitely would've have preferred that money to have been spent on traveller friendly toiletries such as body wash & body lotion.

Perfect! Great location, close to everything! Ten minute walk from train station. Very clean, spacious rooms, friendly and helpful hosts, charming, comfortable, quiet, nice breakfast. Highly recommend, couldn’t have been happier! Perfect!

Spent a night here and what a find !! Room and bathroom spacious and immaculate. Small (5 rooms) with wonderful service. Breakfast was amazing and hosts so accommodating. 10 minutes to train and 10 minutes to center of town. Lucca is a special place and staying here made it all the more special

We booked a twin room in error but when we arrived back from our walk our room looked and felt like a double. A nice and welcome gesture by the owner and staff. The B & B is in a superb central position to explore Lucca and is yet only 10 minutes walk to the station. There was an excellent choice of food and drink at breakfast and gluten free items were provided for my wife who has coeliac disease. We were looked after extremely well and the directions and information on different places nearby was much appreciated.

When I book accommodation, I look for five things - the quality of the bed, the bathroom, the breakfast, the service and the location. The bedroom was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Excellent air conditioning with several easy settings including a quiet night mode. The bed was large and comfortable, with spare pillows etc. Plenty of storage. The bathroom was large and new - a large shower cubicle that was very easy to operate. Lots of good lighting and storage. The breakfast was good - the bread particularly good, with a range of cold meats and cheese, jams, eggs, fruit, juices, and excellent coffee! The service was excellent - my train ran late and was very grateful to them for hanging around a little longer on a hot Sunday afternoon for me. Nothing was too much trouble, and they are such wonderful hosts - charming, not intrusive, and helpful. The location is excellent, on the Via Beccheria between the Piazza Napoleone and the Piazza San Michele. You might think that this would be a noisy area, but the building faces east to the Corte del Biancone, where the book stalls are, so you get a great location to everything, but without the noise. It was such an easy place to stay, and I will absolutely stay there again.

This hotel was just perfect. A devoted owner who called us to ask if he can help with directions. After that he waited for us outside because the hotel is a little bit hidden. This house has 5 rooms. Very clean, good beds, an excellent shower and a lot of love for details. The Italian breakfast is nice and prepared with molto amore. Even the color of the plates and mugs are in the look&feel of the whole decor. Moreover the value for money is excellent. Artù, our host, is just nice. I highly recommend this wonderful hotel for a stay in the wonderful city Lucca.

Io e mio marito abbiamo dormito qui una notte in occasione di un weekend romantico. Adoriamo Lucca e ci torniamo spesso, abbiamo visto moltissime strutture ricettive dentro le mura ma questa è senza dubbio tra le migliori che abbiamo visitato, forse proprio la migliore. La struttura è rinnovata di fresco, pulitissima e spaziosa. Colazione ricca e variegata, con i proprietari presenti e disponibili ad ogni tipo di richiesta, squisiti veramente. Oltretutto la posizione è straordinaria. Ci torneremo ♥️
