The New Forest Inn

Just returned from a 3-night stay at The New Forest Inn. In short, we loved it. We stayed in a King size cosy room which was lovely. Meticulously clean and kitted-out with tea and coffee making facilities and a hair dryer. The en-suite bathroom was surprisingly big and the shower was wonderful after a long day of walking. The food here was delicious. Our evening meals were varied with generous portions, and the menu even had wine pairing suggestions. The New Forest Inn breakfast was something else and was quite the talking point of the breakfast room of a morning! The staff here were really lovely, especially Tina who provided a very cheerful welcome every morning. In fact, the whole team were friendly, efficient, and cheerful. Nothing was too much trouble. This really was the perfect stay which provided us with all the comforts we were after for our short break. We will definitely be back!

Excellent location for the new forest just a mile walk into Lyndhurst town short drive from bolderwood dear sanctuary watch the ponies walk past the pub up and down the road rooms are very clean and very comfortable only downside the bathroom could do with a small shelf also has an excellent choice for breakfast included in the room price the staff are so warm and welcoming food is great home made fresh produce breakfast sets you up for the day have a choice from full English to eggs Benedict’s can also change items to include vegetarian options choices of cereal all included if you enjoy a meat pie you won’t go far wrong with the steak and ale pie crammed full with meat and shortcrust pastry Would like to thank Rob, Steph and Ellie for their hospitality banter we will be back

Stopped in for early supper. Friendly staff and extensive menu although my daughter struggled to find something she wanted… but they happily did a sandwich for her which was epic!! My tofu curry was amazing ( although would have preferred a soft naan bread with it instead of the tough flat bread) . Thank you.

GRIM ! we went for food, which we sent back as it was cold and then sent back again as it ws still Tepid. To be fair the manager and barmaid were very courteous and apologetic and refunded the price of one of the meal. Chicken as well as cold was like rubber, my spicy rice thing was grim. Would never eat there again, to be generous it does advertise home made food not HOT home maid food.

We felt so welcome from the minute we stepped through the door. We were early so decided to have a couple of drinks at the bar before being shown to our room. The pub is a traditional, old and full of character as you’d expect and was very busy with diners. Our room was lovely, spotlessly clean and bright with a lovely ensuite. Access to the bedrooms is via a very steep staircase, so not suitable if you have mobility issues. Luckily we had pre booked our table for our evening meal, it was very busy and I could see why… the food is absolutely amazing! I can highly recommend the pies, packed full of flavour, we both agreed they were the best we’d ever tasted and after a very comfortable nights sleep, breakfast didn’t disappoint either, all really good quality ingredients. We will definitely return, 5*

The hotel was gorgeous in beautiful surroundings lovely rooms comfy beds wonderful breakfast staff were fabulous Eliza couldn't do enough for us what a lovely girl we will be back and loved seeing the ponies thank u xxxx

I had a lovely stay at The New Forest Inn. Comfortable accommodation and delicious food and a friendly atmosphere in a tranquil setting. New Forest walks are on the doorstep of the Inn and a short stroll through a delightful village takes you to Lyndhurst.

What a wonderful place, great food and fantastic staff! We stayed a few nights and had dinner which on both occasions was very good. The breakfast was hearty and d set us up for a days cycling! Thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back. Felt so welcome.

Go to The New Forest Inn quite a bit. Certainly more than any other pub in The Forest. Never had an issue before. Arrived without a booking and asked to sit in the new conservatory, fine, a bit cold and no atmosphere/background music. Was sitting for about 10 minutes before a wacker plate started in the garden (garden renovations ongoing). Asked to move back into the main pub and was placed in The Snug area. Again fine. Food came out, dry, thin slice of stuffed rolled pork, mediocre at best really. They had run out of Lamb leg steak (even though it was only middayish on Saturday) So I went for lamb liver, dry and powdery texture. Time to pay and go only to find the ceiling had been dripping water from the room above onto our coats. Finished drinks at the bar. Didn’t do the British thing and say nothing this time - actually asked for money off - Manager agreed to give us a whopping 10% reduction for the food and soaked clothes - £4.50! Don’t think we’ll be back for a while. I do have to say this is very unusual. Never been disappointed before but maybe time to try other establishments.
