This hotel has the best location if you want to be near the Parque Del Retiro. It's also within walking distance to several attractions especially the Queen Sophia museum. Part of its charm is that it's an older hotel and it has some history. It used to be a former home (and I believe a telephone company's headquarter's office.) You can tell that the rooms retain their classic feel but blended with modern amenities and upgrades. The old elevator (which is not in use) is very cool as well and gives you a sense of the Palacio's history. The staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. In addition to the park it's also a few minutes by car to the train station. I got a very simple room and I didn't feel the price justified but some of the other rooms are absolutely beautiful. If you're a Marriot Bonvoy member definitely try to ask for an upgrade if you're eligible. I loved my stay here.

Superb location with friendly and helpful staff. Went there as a couple and loved the experience. Bedroom size was amazing and the bed was super confortable, we slept really well. Our stay included breakfast and we were amazed by the quality and variety. Overall we loved the experience and will definitely go back again.

Very mediocre plus some real issues with rooms and smells We had two rooms. Both on the 4th floor. Elevator lobby on 4 had a poo musty smell Hallways dark with a seriously dangerous area near and old circular staircase. Hotel put in a piece of wood so people don’t fall down but it is not big enough and when carry luggage downright dangerous. Bad lighting in area made it worse. Shame on Marriott for passing the safety issue. Room 404 had a dead roach in middle of room. See picture Room 405 had almost no window and little light, cheap plastic wood flooring and no USB charging ports Very disappointing for an Autograph collection

The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the location is within steps of all the city’s main visitor’s attractions. The rooms are well appointed and impeccably clean! Alicia and Federico stand out amongst a truly professional and welcoming staff! We will return!

Poor checkin experience- room not available until 5 since they had given another Bonvoy member late checkout. Bonvoy needs to not accommodate late checkout for on Bonvoy member at expense of another especially when clear the rooms are fully booked. We were not upgraded. Otherwise hotel has a lovely location by The Retiro park. Service was friendly and helpful. Breakfast very nice and evening bar as well. The bar tender accommodated us even though she was about to close which was very nice, Rooms were not my taste (upgraded to modern is unfortunately not in keeping with the beautiful old building). Very good not great,

The location is terrific, and it's a lovely building. We should have upgraded our rooms to a larger option, as the entry level was very small. Beware - their form on their website for pre-arrival inquiries does not work. I repeatedly filled it out, to request an airport pick up. I had to go back to Marriott to find an email address. In the end the airport pick up was super expensive and poorly done. The driver did not meet us at arrivals, rather, he was in the parking lot. And he spoke no English, unlike what we were told. Take a cab.

Very beautiful hotel directly across from the huge city park. If you are one of four drivers, you get to park your car for free! If you are the fifth driver, they'll point you to a parking lot. So we lucked out. Like I said, it's beautiful but it's old. So there's not places to charge your phone easily. The balcony doors aren't able to be opened (probably for safety's sake). If you want modern connections, this is not the hotel for you. The breakfast is decent. The head desk quickly made us a reservation when we needed a place to eat and he definitely steered us in the right direction. (He suggested a place known for seafood but we didn't eat that. They had other choices too. Shhh, don't tell him!) We stayed at the JW in Madrid earlier in the week and they had a super welcoming vibe. All staff was so friendly. This one is definitely more restrained. They hope you have a good time. They are cordial and polite but they have no interest in furthering conversation or getting familiar. It definitely feels like "We're the staff and we're doing our job and you are a rich guest in the hotel. We know our place and you know yours." The JW vibe was more like "Hey, how was your day? Glad you're back!"

My husband and I were guests at your wonderful hotel. We had such a great time. From the moment we entered the hotel until we left for the train station, everything was terrific. The entire staff treated us as if we were guests in their own home. We had a beautiful room overlooking Retiro Park, the history and décor added to the overall charm of the hotel. The hotel was within walking distance of many museums and attractions. We enjoyed breakfast each morning in the hotel restaurant and ended our day with a nice dessert or cocktail in the restaurant as well.
