Blue Bay Resort Hotel

Only back a couple of weeks from this fantastic hotel and already missing it. Our fourth stay in the Blue Bay Resort Hotel and wow! It just keeps getting better everytime. The staff are amazing, lovely, friendly and hardworking people who strive to make your experience amazing! We could never thank them enough. The hotel itself it's beautiful, a wide range of rooms and accommodation to choose from. Plenty of areas to relax and chill in comfort surroundings near the reception. Main bar near the reception just off the to the left, shop selling snacks and drinks, plus other necessities you may need and selection of gifts. The main pool area consists of three pools and pool bar which serves snacks at various times throughout the day between meal times. The food is amazing and a wide selection of fresh produce to choose from, brilliantly prepared by the hardworking staff. Something for everyone for sure. Local town of Agia Pelagia only a ten minute ride away. Bus service from the hotel to the city of Heraklion several times a day very reasonably priced. As in previous reviews I've posted before I can't recommend the Blue Bay Resort Hotel highly enough. A true home from home for us, we look forward to visiting again and again. We recently spent a week at the Blue Bay Resort and Spa in July, staying in a family room in the main building with a beautiful sea view. Overall, our experience was positive with a few notable exceptions. **Room and Cleanliness:** The family room was very clean, and the housekeeping staff did an excellent job. Towels were changed daily, and the beds were made every day, ensuring a comfortable stay. **Service:** The hotel staff provided amazing service throughout our stay. They were friendly, attentive, and always willing to help with any requests we had. **Food:** The food quality in the all-inclusive package was really good. It was tasty, fresh, and well-prepared. However, the menu was quite repetitive, which is something to be expected in an all-inclusive setup. **Drinks:** The drinks at the all-inclusive bar were a letdown. The selection was very limited, and it seemed like the alcohol might have been watered down, as there was no noticeable effect even after consuming drinks throughout the day and night. After 11 PM, you have to pay for drinks, which was disappointing for an all-inclusive resort. **Location:** The resort is situated on a hillside, which was fine for us but could be challenging for those with mobility issues. The surrounding area doesn’t offer much, so we often ventured out to the beach area for food and drinks. **Entertainment:** The evening entertainment was good but inconveniently located far from the main bar and toilets. This required a 20-minute round-trip to get drinks or use the bathroom, which deterred us from attending after two nights. Daytime entertainment was limited to activities like darts, water volleyball, and water aerobics. There was no music by the pool, except during water aerobics, so bringing your own music is necessary. **Overall Vibe:** The resort had a laid-back atmosphere, which we enjoyed. However, the lack of variety in entertainment and the poor quality of drinks were notable downsides. **Recommendation:** While our stay was generally good, the repetitive food, watered-down drinks, and inconvenient entertainment setup were drawbacks. If you're looking for a relaxing stay with good service and don't mind the limited drink options and entertainment, the Blue Bay Resort and Spa could be a decent choice. However, those with mobility issues or seeking a vibrant nightlife might want to consider other options.

Good points- The food- the greek pastries were one of the best things ive ever tasted, good selection of choice, good way to try lots of new food whilst also being provided with home comforts of pasta, roast meats and veg every night, some things were slightly bland but overall, its good food! Drinks are substantial, enough choice but also limited to what you can have without paying- the sangria is by far the best. Location- overlooking the ocean, beautiful everywhere you look. 20 min walk from the main ***** of Agia Pelagia or 3 min walk down the the beach that has a bar/cafe,restaurant, watersports and gift shops. Rooms- we were updgraded to a family room at no extra charge, it was huge, so much space and the balcony was long with a spectacular view of the ocean. Staff- they were friendly, efficient, welcoming, polite and always smiling. The service at dinner in particular was impressive, very quick to clear dirty plates. Bad points- Location- if you want to be near the hustle and bustle, this hotel isnt for you. The walk back up from the beach at the bottom isnt long but is very steep and tough on the legs, not advisable for anyone with mobility issues or small children. (The beach and its crystal clear warm waters is absolutely worth it though) The flow of the hotel- depending on where your room is, there is a fair bit of going up and down stairs to get to the pool area or restaurant, again, this hotel is not advisable for anyone with mobility issues! Entertainment- there isnt much in the way of activities, apart from aqua aerobics performed by a couple of 16 year olds or darts competitions, there are performances in the amphitheater on some days (The Greek Dancers were phenomenal) but id recommend bringing a good book, earphones & some card games to keep you occupied during the day & night. Overall this hotel is lovely to stay in, there are no special luxuries or feelings of it being a grand hotel, but it is perfect for a week in the sun with great views, good drinks, interesting food and some relaxation time!! 7.5/10

Arrived 10pm yesterday, travel weary…..lovely welcome……Reception staff(Maria and Dimitris) so accommodating. Even provided us with a bedtime snack(freshly made sandwiches, crisps, pretzels, fruit) and arranged coffee for us…..much need, so so grateful. stelios took care of our bags and introduced our room to us. “Toni” in the bar, so cheerful, provided a much needed refreshing welcome drink….. ..and now, sun rise, and the day just gets better and better… … impressed thus far!

A visit to this beautiful hotel reminds you of what a magical place Crete is, with its enchanting environment and wonderful staff who cannot do enough to make your stay more comfortable. We arrived after midnight and were greeted with a food package which was a lovely gesture (and welcomed after the long journey!) We had all our cases taken to our room by the porter which was also highly appreciated. Our room and the rest of the hotel were continuously spotless, and the panoramic views of the sea were out of this world. The food varied and was delicious. It was the best that we experienced at an all-inclusive. The beach is a short walk down the hill, although the hotel runs a shuttle bus throughout the day which was amazingly helpful as the hill was very steep. On the first day, we were unsure of the bus times, and it turned out that we missed the last bus; however, the driver was so kind and took us anyway! We also booked to have dinner one evening at Vasilis Taverna, situated on the beach (a must visit but bear in mind the portions are huge!) and ordered a taxi from reception, but they insisted that they would take us in the bus. This was out of hours, and they picked us up after our meal too which was utterly thoughtful of them. The staff go above and beyond at this hotel and treat their guests with kindness and respect. The bar staff were also stellar guys! They took the time to talk to everyone and always remembered you and your order. I came on holiday with my parents as this was their 30th birthday present to me and it was the perfect gift. We will definitely visit again! Thank you Blue Bay! Xxx

We visted the Blue Bay hotel and was overall very happy with our stay! The customer service was fabulous and check in was so welcoming and warming. The evening entertainment was thoroughly enjoyed we wish we had stayed for longer! Until next time!

Pro - Nice and friendly staff : Close to the beaches : Some meals are very good for AI especially liked the pork - Pool is salty but doesn't sting eyes - Massage girlies know their work they've been doing it for 10+ years. : splendid views depending on the floor Cons - lots of steps and hilly area might be bad for people with mobility issues : AI cocktails are abysmal : food can get boring and bland as well as ice-cream. : pool can get noisy so if your room is close to it will be a problem. Possible improvements - tea making facilities in the room

This was our first trip to Blue Bay but I doubt it will be our last. The hotel itself is beautiful and we received such a warm welcome when we arrived in the small hours of the morning. Our room was clean and spacious with a lovely balcony. We found the atmosphere to be friendly and relaxed. The clientele was a mixture of families and couples who were respectful and considerate. We were thrilled with the quality and variety of the food available at the AI buffet. The AI drinks menu is a little more limited so this hotel is a good place for foodies who aren't that fussed about drinking heavily. I think this philosophy is a great strategy from the hotel to avoid attracting "the wrong crowd" while using their budget to really showcase the best of local cuisine. We found it always easy to get a sunbed around the many pools, the AI drinks are served in glasses rather than plastic cups (unless around the pool, for obvious reasons) and there were never long queues at the bars or buffet. This really is AI at its best. We only had one problem when we stayed here which was that our room was directly underneath the bar which played loud music until 1am. This was too late for us and kept us awake so they very kindly allowed us to swap to a quieter one, for which we were very grateful. We found all the staff to be warm, friendly, professional and fun and we enjoyed the entertainment in the evenings. There are so many things to do at the resort but a taxi to Agia Pelagia only costs 10€ and the town/beach is well worth a visit. We sit here in the main bar with our pre- dinner drinks not wanting to get on the aeroplane home tonight!

this was our first time staying at this lovely place called BLUE BAY RESORT. The manager GEORGE was so kind and friendly to us. Because of the time we came in , he kindly allowed us to have something to eat before they finished for dinner which was 21:30pm. He showed and explained everything in very good detail of where everything was and kindly showed us to our rooms and also how everything works. STAFF. During the week we met some lovely staff especially Ruala The Spa receptionist. She explained all the treatments on offer and helped us choose which one to get enjoyed our treatments (thank you) . Main snack bar(S) / pool. We used the pool also some nice staff but unfortunately I got the feeling that one staff member didn’t want to serve our family or me because she had a unbothered face or just didn’t want to work their think her name was (PAPI) was just a simple hi no smile or anything. FOOD. The main buffet was ok the chefs worked hard and well . Some dishes tasted a little salty. I’m glad that they changed the menu everyday but i think they could add some more fruit like (mango , grapes & berries) . Drinks were ok but not sure if they watered it down. ROOMS. The rooms that we stayed in were very clean and well kept. The beds were comfortable as well as the showers etc . I enjoyed the AC that kept us cool. I would like to thank ALL THE STAFF AT BLUE BAY RESORT for a comfortable and memorable stay . Would definitely recommend and come back.
