Beck Hall

I have just had a 2 night stay here. What a lovely little gem . the building is old and authentic with fires and pads for dogs to lie on . The staff are so friendly and helpful. I came though for the food as I have been vegan for 33 years and when I saw the first vegan hotel I thought I must go. I was not disappointed the food was delicious the Sunday roast was lovely and the cheesecake divine. To top it all this little hotel is set in a truly beautiful part of the country with spectacular scenery and walks. Thanks so much for for setting up a vegan green ethical hotel I felt truly relaxed I will definitely return

An absolutely wonderful experience! We thoroughly enjoyed every single bit of our stay and the fabulous plant based menu. We enjoyed a beautiful room surrounded by birdlife and a spectacular view of the beck. We LOVE the plant based menu, the staff were awesome and we made a stop at Beck Hall on purpose (from Australia) as we read about your transition to plant based online and knew we had to come and support you. The best of luck with your transition, and I'm sure you will find every success and support by the wonderful network of vegans (and vegan curious) around the world. Vegan, done well. I have been a vegan wholefood chef for a very long time and find it extremely difficult to find well made vegan food in England or Australia - all the Gold stars to you guys!!! Doggo friendly and relaxed enough vibes to make the stay thoroughly enjoyable. We will be back! we all had such a fantastic stay here, the hotel is lovely in a beautiful area. all the staff were friendly & very helpful; they really made our visit, the entire experience was wonderful - we will be returning again for hopefully longer next time, can’t recommend this place enough.

I had visited in September 2023, and thought I knew what to expect for this visit in April 2024 - wide menu, comfortable accommodation, friendly staff. The accommodation and the staff were still great, but the hotel is now 100% plant-based, so no meat on the menu any more. I had not done my homework properly and was not aware of this change. If you are already a vegetarian, you'll probably love this place. The menu is quite extensive and creative. But I normally eat vegetarian just once or twice a week, and didn't welcome the switch to 100% plant based. I respect that the owners can choose what they serve, and seek out the market for their offering, but I prefer to make my own choices about if and when I want to to eat vegetarian food, rather than be faced with a veggie-only menu. For this reason, I appreciate that I am no longer in the target audience for Beck Hall, and am unlikely to visit again.

Wow! We wish we had been able to stay for longer. We used Beck Hall as a stop on the way home following a holiday in Scotland and picked it for it's plant-based menu. What a treat to have a full menu of beautiful plant-based food. We ate a 3 course dinner and breakfast the following morning and loved every mouthful. Our room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The guest 'snug' with a real fire was a bonus and we met like-minded couples and enjoyed conversation over drinks. The setting is peaceful and picturesque - in better weather you can enjoy drinks or food in the garden with just the sound of the stream and the birds. There are plenty of walks on the doorstep and a helpful guide in the room. Previous reviewers have commented on the parking being a short walk - this is a feature of the location and not something that could be changed and the owners have made the car park secure which is great. Other comments have been made about staff being grumpy. We found them to be down-to-earth with no pretension. We will be returning.

The best hotel we have ever been to. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. The food (100% plant based) was gorgeous and the menu was so varied. We ate here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and devoured everything we had. The staff went above and beyond to make us and our golden retriever feel comfortable. Massive shout out to David who was there throughout our stay and was very attentive. He is an absolute credit! We have already booked to stay again, we enjoyed it that much!

It was an absolute pleasure to stay at Beck Hall. The food was amazing and the staff delightful. So refreshing to have so many vegan options. Ideal location for so many beautiful walks. No hesitation in recommending this hotel and I know I’ll be returning. Wish there were more hotels like this around the UK.

100% plant based and we only sought out The Bell because of that, as it was our anniversary and my wife is a long term Vegan. She had no idea until we arrived and was in heaven to be able to choose anything on the menu, starters, mains and deserts, ALL plant based and all delicious, I’m not Vegan or even vegetarian and I absolutely loved the food here. The staff from the second we arrived and met ‘lovely Linda’ were ALL absolutely fabulous, but a special mention also to Shona, who was also so lovely and so helpful. The chef/s and kitchen squad are amazing, as are all the other staff and the room and all areas were so comfy and clean, so much character and history.

We loved this beautiful little hotel, carefully curated throughout - made to make you feel welcome and comfortable (including the dogs, albeit we didn't have one). Ideally situated for peaceful walks and a rest from the normal faced paced life. So fantastic that it's also fully plant based, what a lovely choice of food, we ate three meals there and thoroughly enjoyed all of it - vegan paradise. We appreciated the advice from the team on walks, also on the faultless service they provided. We'll be back for sure, and can't wait.
