I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel due to the way a serious incident was handled.
I booked and paid for two rooms for three nights, specifically requesting that we will stay on the same floor. While this was accommodated for the first two nights, an unexpected and distressing incident occurred on the third morning that left my companions deeply scarred. Hotel management quickly moved their room to a different floor for their safety.
When I tried to check on my companions, I was denied access to the floor they were transferred to, despite being the one who booked and paid for both rooms using my email account. I repeatedly explained this to Val at the front desk, but she showed no empathy for the situation and only granted me access after persistent efforts.
Wanting to discuss the incident further and seek corrective action, I asked to speak with the manager, Lily. Val told me Lily is not around, and only the assistant manager was present. Divine appeared and claimed to be the manager. Divine, who is the assistant manager, insisted repeatedly and repeatedly that she is the manager. I find this misleading and unprofessional. Lily, who was not to be present, suddenly appeared during our confrontation with Divine.
Divine’s strong and dismissive attitude was not appropriate for someone in her position, especially during such a sensitive time.
Overall, I am very dissatisfied with how this situation was handled, Val and Divine particularly the lack of transparency and empathy from their clients. I hope Maayo Hotel takes this feedback seriously and implements improvements in staff training and crisis management choosing the right person for this job. Clearly, Divine is not one of the right person for this job.
