Nhambavale Lodge

very welcoming people and neat and clean accommodation. It has a great little bar and amazing food. accessible by LDV or 4x4 only. The owners and staff are very friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We will return and make this a regular stop when we visit Mozambique.

We had a great time as camping group at Nhambavale. All facilities met our expectations and the restaurant / bar at the deck was great. Friendly helpful staff and management. Overall we had a great stay.

Kitchen area was not very clean. No hot water for shower. Excellent view, food was good. Very friendly and helpful host and staff. The road is for 4 x 4 only. Very thick sand and high middleman in the road.

Incredible lodge on the shores of the lake, where you can see beautiful sunsets. A good bar-restaurant, beautiful local-style cabins, some equipped with kitchens and everything you need. Very affordable prices, boat service to fish or watch whales, you can go on foot to the beach or in a 4x4. The best of all is the staff, the manager Mr. Casimiro and Ernesto are great. I was exploring the lodges in the area, some of them really expensive, and this is undoubtedly the best option, you feel like family here, it is already one of my favorite places in Mozambique, I will surely return.

Communication: It was unclear and I was told that the road was 0K for a no-4x4 car. No way! We got stuck in the sand late in the dark of the evening with limited mobile phone connection. When I tried to call, no-one answered from the Nhambavale Lodge and there was only one phone contact (a person based in South Africa, we were told at a later time). No-one answered our messages too. We were helped by the local population to get in touch with the employees in the lodge and finally the staff came to pull our car. We were lucky that we met people who wanted to help, however we were very scared and almost until the end we could not be sure if the people pulling us are really from the staff, as we never got in direct contact with the lodge. We consider that in cases of difficult access to a certain accommodation, at least there should be someone to answer before we arrive. Apart from the above, the staff on site is friendly and helpful. The location is nice. Only the mosquito nets are broken and full of holes: must be replaced! 4x4 absolutely needed! I left the same review on Google Maps but it has been removed. Furthermore, the Lodge management answered to my review on Google Maps by saying that I was "highly intoxicated", that is completely fake and unacceptable as I was not! Claiming that I was "highly intoxicated", while I was not, might qualify as defamation from a legal point of view...

bedding was full off holes in the flat sheet and very dirty , the bed was full of spiders underneath the bed, heard noise coming from the floor and check, and saw all the spider webs and spiders,, the shower drain was blocked, the kitchen dripping tray was also very dirty, full of ants and worms, the dustbin on the top was not cleaned for ages, the floors was not mopped for a few days, this was the worse place i have ever stayed in my life. will not recommend this place to anybody.
