Great activities included in Stay, me and my partner participated in the HIIT, the painting and the yoga session or the fitness hut is also great for doing own stretching routine. Location is central with nice places to eat around and the restaurant at Selina also has great options, the place is amazing for spotting wildlife such as toucans and sloths. We saw more wildlife here than at the national park. Easy bus ride to the beach. Amenities are ok, wifi not the best from the room but I had an eSIM for a few days so not an issue. Only thing was I wished we had a mini fridge for room to keep items such as water and milk. Really appreciated the daily housekeeping and upkeep of cleanliness. Overall really enjoyed stay.

I booked a 3 nights Standard room via Agoda (a popular travel website) in early May 2024. I fully paid the room on early June 2024. A week before my stay starts at Selena Manuel Antonio, I received a mail from Agoda that there was an error in the booking caused by the property and they will give me 10 USD if I agree to switch from Standard room to Dorm. No one in their right mind would agree to this so I've asked Agoda to honour the original booking. After a few days of back and forth, I just asked them to give me a full refund since they cannot fix the issue. Agoda have been saying in the last 2 weeks that they have been in touch with the booking partner and the hostel owner (Harold) about the refund and they just told me today that they have stopped getting responses from them. Because of this mess, I ended up not going to Manuel Antonio and left me with a bad impression of Costa Rica. If you do not want to spoil your trip in Costa Rica, stay away from this hostel or you will end up getting scammed. I will file a complaint against Agoda and this hotel at the Consumer council. Not sure how many tourist have been duped by this modus operandi.

I hate to leave a bad review but unfortunately this place calls for one as I wouldn’t want anyone else to have a similar experience here. Firstly, the room was nothing like the pictures on the website (see attached). It was just a dark box room and the windows were next to a busy footpath so you’d have no privacy if you left the curtains open. The bathroom also became infested with ants whenever it rained. Secondly, we had an early flight on Sunday and had to wake up very early, but the night prior they had a party with incredibly loud music. I had ear buds in my ears and huge noise cancelling headphones on top of these, through which I was playing white noise, and I could still hear it loudly. I ended up getting a headache from the noise and getting on my flight the next day on 0 hours sleep. If you have any early flights or trips planned, be warned. Thirdly, the security at the hotel was not great at all - If you’re a solo traveller I’d strongly advise going elsewhere. The only plus to this place is the location - there’s a fantastic restaurant opposite and plenty more nearby. If you’re planning on using your room just for sleeping and not spending much time at the hotel/hostel, then you might be ok staying here. I read another review on here that mentioned staying elsewhere and coming to Selina just for parties - I’d also recommend this, or not coming to Selina at all. There’s plenty of places to stay nearby that I’m sure you could find something better.

In a good location. Private room was spacious and well equipped. Addition of three pools was great too. We did eat at the onsite restaurant one evening and were disappointed having to send some of the food back as it was stone-cold. Drinks also very expensive. Suited our purpose but not sure we would stay here again.

Selina Manuel Antonio is beautiful. It has 3 pools and free yoga some afternoons. I stayed in a suite which had its own balcony and nice views as well as free breakfast. They can organize transport and local tours for you as well … though you pay a premium over market rates. Lots of food options onsite and nearby. Check out the amazing and innovative vegan restaurant up the street! Only downsides: a bit far from the beach if you want to walk and the road has no shoulder in some places. Also, a million stairs up and down to get around the property. Ask them to help you with your bags when you check in. This is not at all friendly to anyone with accessibiltiy or mobility issues.

We stayed at a shared room, highly recommended if you're looking to meet new people and share experiencies of your travels. The interaction with both the staff and the residents is IMMACULATE. Had such a great time throughout the week meeting incoming residents and the 5 star service of the staff since day 1.

The food in Selina is seriously amazing, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and the views are to die for. I also loved the fact that you will most certainly meet new friends in your time there If you’re in the area I highly recommend visiting!

Our worst hotel experience ever. We’ve been robbed in our hotel room, the hotel suspected it was an inside job and did nothing to help us. We have made several attempts to r We stayed at the Selina Manuel Antonio for 4 nights in July and were robbed in our own room. Before leaving the room in the morning, we had closed the window and the door. I received a notification on my banking app showing suspicious activity on one of my cards I had left in the room. We rushed back to the hotel only to find our room had been plundered. Everything of value had been stolen: both computers containing all our work, jewelry, clothes, shoes, handbags, backpacks, perfumes, identity cards. We immediately went to the reception where we tried to explain our situation to the receptionist. Absolutely no reaction, we had to wait, completely panicked for the manager to come, which took what seemed an eternity. The manager, which could not care less, finally appeared and came to the room to witness the ransack. We went straight to the police station to make a deposition. On our way to the police station, we did our best to explain how we found out about the robbery in our broken Spanish, because the manager wasn’t speaking English. At some point at the police station, we understood a glimpse of the conversation which was taking place between the manager and another hotel representative. They were saying in Spanish, that our room was in a blindspot for cameras and that a robbery had previously occurred there some years ago. Fortunately we understood a couple of words and confronted them immediately about that, and they had to confess to what they knew and were apparently trying to hide. The hotel's responsibility in this matter is engaged as (i) the theft occurred inside of the hotel, (ii) our room was in a blindspot for the cameras and the hotel knew about it, (iii) there was already a robbery in the same area of 3 rooms, and (iv) the thieves could open the door without forcing it simply by passing their hands through the poorly secured window (which was closed when we left the room). The hotel is liable and therefore should reimburse the amounts of the stolen items. When we came back from the police station, the manager promised to repair us for the whole amount that was stolen, and to show us the camera feed. Both of these promises were betrayed. The police caught some of the burglars and we managed to get some of our items back (including computers). But the jewelry went missing, and now the hotel acts like nothing ever happened. After more than a month, our requests remain completely unanswered. They are now trying to mislead us with legal jargon and their own insurer’s policy. PS: The room was awful and morbidly humid. No sunlight has ever penetrated trough that broken window.

Go for the homemade chicken fingers!!! All the food was delicious and fresh. It was a great stop for lunch or a snack while traveling. The atmosphere was like a jungle beach vibe with a younger fun crowd staying at the hostel.
