Maspalomas Resort by Dunas

This is around the 4th time we have stayed at this hotel and we have just had another lovely 2 weeks here. The hotel itself is in attractive grounds with lots of flowers, pools, and palm trees, and the rooms are basic and clean. The restaurant is busy but well organised and the staff are always working very hard to get people seated, and tables cleaned quickly. Food is a standard all inclusive affair which is the norm for most hotels in this part of the world. There is a bar in the entertainment area and also an outside bar. Both are great and again the staff are friendly and efficient. The only unusual aspect of the holiday was the goings on around the 'quiet' pool. The lifeguard would interact with the guests (and children) a lot more than the other lifeguards and angered a lot of people during our stay. He wouldn't let people sit at the edge of the pool if they were holding a drink in a plastic cup for example, and would spend his days telling guests that a variety of things were "not possible". This resulted in a number of confrontations and we also heard one couple say "this is our first and last time here". Everyone watched the goings on when he was on shift, as opposed to the other lifeguards who would sit quietly and observe the pool for drowning people. Overall it was a great 2 weeks and the easiest solution to the lifeguard issue is to sit at one of the other pools instead. Unless you enjoy a bit of drama to liven up your day! We would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday with hard working staff who strive to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Shout out to Rashid in the main restaurant and Margot in the main bar, who always had everything under control :)

A resort that deserves a 5 star, very friendly staff, the all-in food was different every day, and warm, the bungalows were neat and clean, are cleaned every day. There are several swimming pools where care is taken not to put down your towel early. The resort is a fifteen-minute walk from the beach

It was such a fine and topresort, i enjoyned everything. The staff was very professional and did it all with a smile. The accomodation was ontspanning. It is the best location to go for exploring the island.

Nice big rooms. Excellent customer service. Very good food but average selection. Close to beach and easy to get everywhere like shopping but those little further way. Much entertainment during day and in the evening. Perfect for family vacation.

18/7/23-25/7/23 Maspalomas Resort by Dunas Our holiday did not get off to the best start due to our flight being 3 hours delayed. This meant that we did not get to our resort till really late and missed dinner. The resort did say they had a cold buffet for us, this was clearly left overs from dinner time and we couldn’t eat it, so went hungry. We went to our bungalow, as we opened the door we was hit by the smell of damp, after we looked around we discovered damp in every room. As it was so late, we decided to go to reception in the morning to ask to be moved. We went to reception in the morning to explain why we needed to be moved, the receptionist was rude and couldn’t understand what the problem was. We showed pictures of the damp and explained that our children have asthma and that the damp would affect their breathing. She agreed to move us to another bungalow, within 2 hours another family had been put into the damp bungalow despite the fact that the resort are aware that this bungalow was unliveable due to the damp. We was moved into what was apparently an upgrade on the previous bungalow, however from what we could see the upgrade was that the damp had been tiled over and it did not smell of damp. The kitchen had a hob but no fire blanket or extinguisher, there was no kettle just a coffee machine (the coffee machine was dirty and broken, had to fix and clean before use) The bathroom had terrible smells from the drains, so bad we had to buy bleach and air freshener. The shower cubicle tiles was dirty and the shower leaked and flooded the bath room. The hairdryer also had exposed cables. The curtains had moth holes all over and there was huge gaps around the front door which meant that cockroaches and lizards was able to get in, which they did. There was door handles barely hanging on and also a light switch coming away from the wall. We did not feel confident going to reception with these problems as they had been rude to us. The dining hall, we was constantly being moved tables, there is 5 people in my family and we would get moved to a 4 person table with another place mat added to the end, even if we had been seated at a table to accommodate 6 people we was still moved. The plates and cutlery was dirty, tables were not cleaned properly. Flys sitting on the food. One of the chicken dishes (chicken korma), the chicken was not cooked properly and was still pink, one of my daughters had mouldy fruit on top of the cake she got from the desserts. We witnessed beef and pork being cooked together, one of my party is Hindu and therefore was unable to eat anything that was cooked near the beef. There was one set of tongs used on meat and vegetarian dishes, as my partner is a vegetarian this eliminated a lot of choices for her, there was food items labelled as vegetarian however on inspection they actually had meat in them. Dining room staff took plates before we had finished eating or simply stood over you waiting for you to finish. A manage

Clean rooms, good food, miniclub and day activites for kids were pretty good. Staff and animation team were over expectation. Very nice location, only 20min walk to Maspalomas Beach.I recommend this location🙂

We stayed here for 1 week. Great resort. Clean and great rooms. Nice and helpful staff. Thumbs up for the Animaticion team. Two spacius pools. Very good pool for small children. Allright food, breakfast, lunch dinner and snacks from the pool bar.

Well we returned from our holiday at the Mirador on Monday night , and am very pleased to say we couldn't fault it we had a lovely holiday , this hotel is under rated it should be a 4 star everything was perfect , cleanliness ,room ,the staff and the food is outstanding if you can't find something to eat your hard to please , there is a lot of meat dishes but we are meat eaters so no problems for us , seemed to me all needs were catered for . We had a ground floor room in B block , our own sunbeds n table chairs on the terrace and the sun all day from 11am , excellent 👍 Lovely clean swimming pools n surrounding areas , lots of good entertainment and friendly entertainers if that's your kind of thing , great family hotel. Only negatives are Rooms are not posh but very spacious, bath only fills by the shower head and was hard to get in and out of , And the biggest negatives are my mozzie bites so take some spray !! Would stay here again. 🌞
