The attitude and professionalism of the reception would have gone a long way towards making us feel welcome upon arrival (notwithstanding the state of the room and the missing advertised amenities). The receptionist tried to cheat us out of additional money because we could not produce a booking confirmation with the amount in the local MZN currency (our booking was done in ZAR). But the worst was the state of the room. It clearly had not been used in a while and nobody tried to prepare it for new guests. The room was filthy... We found huge dead roaches (clearly from some tind of pesticide they have been using). We could hear the live roaches (or something even worse) running in the skirting at night. The bathroom (and the whole room, in general) did not look like it had been cleaned since the last guest - there were dried-up stains on the bathroom floor, shower, etc. There was only one set of "clean" towels (which we were too afraid to use), and a number of the advertised amenities simply did not exist or were not available (we were told that the "free wi-fi" had not worked in months. We had paid for breakfast to be included during our 2-day stay, but we could not bring ourselves to even consider eating their food - I shudder to think what the state of the kitchen much be like.
