What a hidden gem. This Hotel is amazing. This is our second visit. The rooms are all individual and of a good size. The Restaurant deserves a Michelin Star as the food is excellent. It is in an ideal position to visit the Gorge du Tarn and the Sky Bridge which was designed by an English Man Norman Foster and built by Eiffel and is also known as Millau Bridge the highest bridge in the world.

Lovely hotel, delightful room, restaurant good but overrated by others.Car parking good. The Most serious issue for us was that the traffic noise overnight was very bad indeed and spoiled the stay unfortunately

We ordered the menu at 39 euros per person (which we did reserve a table in advance. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly. A glass of wine and a 50cl caraf of rosé wine, a Badoit sparkling water were ordered too. The bill came to about 64 euros.

A fabulous boutique hotel with a spectacular restaurant. Room are comfy, new and very clean. It is a very old travel post hotel completely refurbished. Personel is very attentive and very kind. Prices are very reasonnable

Our stay was delightful! We loved our room, comfortable and well appointed. The dinner and breakfast were both delicious, ample, with impeccable friendly service. We would love to return someday to explore the town and area more. This was a one night beautiful experience on our way to Toulouse.

This hotel far exceeded our expectations. The property has been beautifully restored and is very comfortable and welcoming. The owners were the best hosts one could ask for. Our dinner and breakfast were very good - full of flavor and variety. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Mende.

We stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. Our room was in the Annexe across the road - a very large pleasant room, recently renovated and a lovely bathroom. We had a meal in the restaurant on our first night. We enquired at 1800 with a member of restaurant staff if we could reserve a table for later and were told 'no reservation' not even for hotel guests. They opened at 1915 - first come, first served. We arrived at 1930 to find the restaurant quite busy and as no staff member acknowledged our arrival we went to sit at an empty table. Eventually someone came over and asked if we wouldn't mind moving as this table was reserved!! We declined and the restaurant manager came over and said it was OK to sit there. The meal was very nice. However we decided not to return to this restaurant again during our stay after this experience. On paying the bill as we left - we had not only been charged for the meal we had eaten but several other incorrect charges for breakfast/meals were added. This required the same manager who we had met initially to come across to authorise the changes. He was not very pleased and not terribly polite.

On a road trip through the Occitanie region my wife and I spontaneously decided to stop over at Mende. Our stay at Hotel de France was a most pleasant and indulging experience. A spacious suite on the top floor of the main building, with a private balcony to the back offering great views over hilly pine tree forrests, was our cosy home for one night. A window to the front located over the courtyard and wintergarden around an old olive tree inspired to rest, watch and absorb glimpses of a typical old town ambience at sunset. The lovely decorated room with a very comfortable bed and large ensuite bathroom were spotless clean. We enjoyed a delicious 3 course dinner at the hotel, with a perfectly cooked foie de veau and a tender veal steak as main dishes. The selection of desserts was amazing: their creme brûlée and mint sorbet with peach and rasperry are a must! This fine dine experience was rounded off by a bottle of Château Grézan, a very smooth and caracteristic Languedoc red wine cuvée. We will definitely return to to stay at Hotel de France when ever our travels will take us back to this wonderful region in the southwest of the country!
