La Zambra Hotel

Excellent through out great staff great food great everything . A must visit for anyone who wants peace and tranquility and a relaxing holiday . Spa staff were so helpful as all the staff throughout the hotel . Can’t wait to revisit . Ps you did forget it was our anniversary after several email correspondences but we made the most of the day and had a great evening .

I revisited this hotel which has been bought over by the Hyatt Group and rebranded as La Zambra. In earlier times I visited this hotel for over 6 years when it was the Byblos and was very sad that it was forced to close because of economic difficulties. But my visit has been exceptional and every kindness has been shown to me. The breakfasts were great every day -such a choice. I ate every day in the Bambaleo for a light snack. I had a great meal in the Picador. My last night I had an amazing fish meal served by Mario and my favourite Tiramisu which Sandra explained to me how it was prepared. An exceptional meal and I can’t wait to come back to relax and just be able to switch off from life’s pressures. Thank you one and all. David.

The accommodations was excellent and the staff couldn’t do enough for you. The concierge was very helpful and organised the golf and buggies for our stay. To top it all, in the evenings we went into the bar area and Ignacio was an excellent host, he recommended some great Gins which were available, couldn’t ask for a better member of staff, definitely a credit to your company to have excellent staff on board.

Hotel is in great condition. A quiet location with two golf courses on site and three more in easy reach. Food was great with wonderful views on the patio. Easy drive from airport and to major attractions of the area.

La Zambra is a beautiful hotel. The design is lovely and it’s absolutely spotless. We had the signature suite which was huge, biggest suite I’ve ever stayed in. The pool areas are lovely and the spa is gorgeous, pretty much empty every time I went there. I appreciated the free morning yoga and there are also tennis courts The food is pretty good, not a huge variety in the restaurants but just enough. The breakfast is ok. So on the whole it is a very good hotel but there were just a couple of things that stopped it being superb. Firstly, the meanness with water! Why? For a hotel of this calibre I find it very strange. The rooms were given 2 small bottles of complimentary water a day, delivered at turn down. If you drink those at night there’s no more! Why not top up during daily cleaning? There’s no complimentary water by the pool (I think water is €5 a bottle), no complimentary water in the restaurants. Even at breakfast there are no bottles provided. There was an urn of water which was always empty! I’ve never experienced water rationing in a 5 star hotel before. We weren’t even offered a cold glass of water when checking in and no water anywhere in the lobby. Of course thete is nowhere nearby to buy any reasonably priced water either. Poor. The other thing was the surprisingly poor service. Took ages to get a drink at the bar even when quite quiet. It could be very difficult to catch someone’s eye and we often resorted to going up to the empty bar. We once went for post dinner drink before 11pm and the staff seemed shocked to have to serve at that time. One evening at Palmita we waited 40 minutes for someone to take our food order and it was pretty quiet and there were plenty of staff. Seemed to be a lack of direction rather than a lack of staff. The staff were all very pleasant just not very effective. I must say that the service at the other restaurant was excellent. The shining light, however, was Doris at the pool. She was always cheerful and efficient. She needs promoting into management. Despite these two things we had a wonderful stay and I would return, with several packs of water!

A very pleasant experience and a well managed Hotel. It has been refurbished to a good standard and is particularly clean.

From the minute we turned into the courtyard at La Zambra I don't think we stopped beaming with smiles. After a very long journey from the UK in the rain we arrived at what can only be described as an oasis. We were greeted by lovely staff on arrival and at check-in. Nothing was too much trouble, from offering us water following our drive to letting our daughter press the buttons in the lift to our room. The room we had chosen over-looked the pool and golf course. We were staying for just one night (very sadly) and our 3 year old daughter accompanied us. Her little bed was made up with her own tiny dressing gown and slippers as well as a 'Ferdinando' the bull for her to cuddle. She was delighted! And so were we - the room was very spacious with every facility and luxury: a wonderful bathroom with huge bath and separate shower; a private balcony facing west to take full advantage of the views and the afternoon and evening sun; a deliciously comfortable bed; a fully stocked mini-bar and every detail thought of including very good lighting which is so often over looked. We had lunch on the terrace at Bamboleo as our daughter ran about exploring and we were able to relax in the sun. After lunch we enjoyed a lovely swim in the outdoor pool. Because the hotel is very child-friendly there is a perfect pool set up for families with a safe and inviting shallow end for small children to splash and play in without disturbing other guests. We lay and enjoyed the peace and beauty of the immaculately kept grounds full of wonderful flowers and shrubs. In the evening we ate with our daughter on the terrace at Palmito. The food was delicious and the menu varied and appealing to each of us. Again, our daughter could run about as we saw other children do. It is so nice to come to a hotel where we could all relax. Because La Zambra has a fairly late check-out time of midday we were able to enjoy a leisurely breakfast and I have never seen a better choice of delicious food, the tables were beautifully laid with a vast array of everything you could think of in the way of temptations! We were then able to use the spa facilities and to swim again before having to pack up and wend our way on again. We were SO sad to leave and could have stayed for very much longer given the slightest chance and a fuller bank account. This was an expensive stay but we do not regret that for one minute. Even after 24 hours we left feeling completely relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated. THANK YOU!!!

The hotel is lovely, it seems to be very eco friendly (wooden room keys instead of plastic) and the hotel itself blends into the natural environment. The staff are very attentive, and the bed was incredibly comfy. We will return!

This really was a hidden gem. Lovely and peaceful with a beautiful outlook to the golf course. We will definitely be returning.
