I have recently had the delightful experience of a 2 week stay at Tamarind Tree Resort in Minuwangoda, Sri Lanka. The physical surroundings are verdant and well-tended by a team of gardeners with magnificent plantings of tamarind, cashews, avocados, coconut, etc. The huge salt-chlorine swimming pool is superbly maintained and pristine clean, all 9m x 14m and 2.5m deep. I could not resist and was in there daily until my fingers wrinkled! My room was spacious and well-appointed with everything functioning perfectly. Room service was efficient with all requests met. There was a daily spread of most delicious food for breakfast, lunch & dinner, with a variety of tasty interesting local dishes available. Many ingredients were harvested fresh from the garden. All of the hotel staff were friendly, responsive and accommodating of my requests, going out of their way to ensure complete satisfaction. I would highly recommend Tamarind Tree Resort as your choice of stay in Sri Lanka. Cheers .. Jenny SMITH

Tamarind tree hotel is such a beautiful and peaceful place.The food was absolutely amazing and the staff was incredibly friendly.Hotel rooms are spacious and so clean.Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Katunayake.........

Tamarind tree was a peaceful place to stay. The food was absolutely delicious, and the chef was accomodating of my dietary requirements. The staff were always very attentive, and provided assistance with a smile. The rooms spacious, the bed comfortable, and daily bottles of water were greatly appreciated.

We stayed at the Tamarind Tree hotel for 2 weeks. The bungalows were stylish and well appointed, and set in a beautiful garden. The food was fabulous. Lots of local Sri Lankan options as well as western ones. The staff were super helpful. Definitely recommend.

Excellent staff. Especially Sampath at the pool. Restaurant service was first class. We arrived very late at night and the young man in reception was very efficient and considerate of three very weary travellers. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. We had a great experience here.

The gardens, rooms and pool were all beautifully laid out and maintained. All the staff were very friendly and attentive, nothing was ever a problem. The buffet dining arrangement was exceptional. Every day we were presented with a dazzling array of Sri Lankan and other dishes, soups, drinks, salads, fruit and sweets. I was even presented with a birthday cake on my birthday. Some of us used the resort’s drivers, guides and buses to travel for a number of days further afield. This turned out to be very helpful, informative and affordable. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Tamarind Tree Garden Resort and give it my recommendation.

Amazing range of food, massive pool and beautiful gardens including fireflies, resident owl and porcupine. Even the basic rooms have nice decks. Thoughtful staff offered us coconuts off the trees and left us clothes racks when they realised we were doing our own laundry. Lovely place to stay not far from Colombo and the airport

Stayed for 2 weeks and loved the resort. Gardens were lush with many unusual plants and trees, including nut trees. Had it's own vegie garden which you could roam around. Highlight were the 2 resort horses who acted as lawn-mowers, roaming free with their handler not far behind. Food was amazing! True local cuisine and so fresh. Great variety and plentiful. Buffet style- breakfast, lunch and dinner- with desserts! Staff were so accomodating. If we asked for something, we would get it the next day. The restaurant was large, bright and clean. The bar was tucked away and you could go have lovely cocktails there, including the local Arak liquor. All the staff were friendly, ranging from the pool staff, gardeners, cleaners, reception and hospitality staff. Always ready with a smile. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and fresh with fans and air-conditioners (which you really needed). Beds were comfortable. Very spacious villa style units with large bathroom. I shared with a friend and it was very spacious. It felt like we were a world away. If you walked down a tree-lined driveway, you were on the busy main street with a supermarket within walking distance and many local shops. You could hire a tuk tuk or taxi if you wanted to visit other areas. Finally, the pool was fantastic, clean, large and warm, set in the lovely gardens. I thoroughly recommend it for a warm, welcoming stay in charming Sri Lanka.
