This large 39-room Motel caters mainly to miners working at the nearby Dawson Mine but they were so quiet, even in their early-morning (i.e. 0500) departures, that you hardly noticed them. We had a "deluxe twin" room ($161.00), painted in a soft pastel yellow, with a large-ish (1.5 metre high) refrigerator but, paradoxically, quite small hanging space in the wardrobe and an inadequate space for toiletries in the bathroom. A microwave, toaster, jug and the requisite china and cutlery were supplies, a nice surprise. The wifi is free but the dining room seemed to have been reserved for the exclusive use of the long-term miners, which is fair enough given their continuity and difficult hours. Room service was available but the new, and quite outstanding, Moura Tavern was a couple of streets away (closer to Emerald) was a great alternative. The "twin" beds comprised a queen and a single. There was also a trundle bed which could have been wheeled into the annex 2.5 X 2.5 metres adjoining the bathroom. The iron board was half-sized. We felt utterly at home and enjoyed two restful and relaxing nights there en route to Karumba.
