The Superior Motel

While Superior Motel & Suites might have nice room, pass on room 20. This room has four wall types, three ceiling tiles, rust in the fridge & bathroom fixtures, broken tub tiles, the tub does not fully drain, no air in the "second" room, and thin window blinds that do not block the bright light from the neon sign right outside.

The motel is located on the main road in Munising. The staff were very friendly and check in was easy. It’s an older motel but well kept. The room was a little musty but clean and comfortable. There is plenty of parking and the waterfront and central stores are in easy walking distance. The bed was comfortable and the room was moderately priced. They had free coffee in the morning. All was good. Enjoyed the stay and enjoyed Munising.

We were going thru Munising in our Harley trip around Lake Superior and I reserved four rooms. The motel is old, but clean, but my room was located about 20 ft from the road and got woke up all nite by trucks using their “Jake” brakes. On future trips I would definitely find another place to stay.

WE stayed there 07/08-07/10. The room looked nothing like this picture. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was good but no water view. We were told we were near the water. Most of the beds were adequate, one was extremely hard with the boards coming through. We were disappointed with no continental breakfast; Bathrooms not up to date or clean in some cases. Our bathroom door stuck and had to have help opening the door my room mate and I assisted with that; toilet seat broken asked for it to be fixed the staff did that quickly; bath tub didn’t drain, bath area had calk missing and hair on the wall. No easy closet space or towel space. The rooms smelled. We didn’t feel we got acceptable accommodations for the price we paid for the 4 of us, 2 rooms.

We stayed in the two room queen bed unit (#31). The good: Staff were super helpful and friendly. They would do just about anything you asked with a smile. The kitchen, stove, fridge, microwave, TV, in-room AC unit all worked just fine. With unit #31, you're right by the road, but it's not that noticeable with the windows closed. Shower water pressure was good and water was plenty hot. Beds were comfortable, but mattresses should be replaced soon. The not-so-good: Upon walking in, you immediately notice that the floors are slanted. Many of the window screens were either torn or cut. Most of the faucets leaked (dripped) unless you found the sweet spot with the handle to stop all water flow. The bad: The bathroom needs a deep cleaning. The bathroom ceiling vent/fan had years of caked who-knows-what in it. Some electrical outlets were missing wall plates (safety hazard). Overall: This would be a 2-star review had it not been for the exceptional staff and their willingness to help. The price is high, but so are many other places in Munising in the height of tourist season. When chain hotels are charging almost $400/night for a room (with no kitchen, etc.), paying under $200/night for a two-bedroom and full kitchen unit, isn't terrible. This is a fine place if you set your expectations properly. Nothing is really terrible and (other than the staff) nothing is really great. It's a dated property in need of some repairs and upkeep.

This place is very poor. The rooms don’t have security locks! And, The rooms don’t have luggage dolly’s. Our suitcases were on the floor. No closet. The refrigerator is tiny…. Don’t expect it to hold a six pack. I was very disappointed in this hotel. Breakfast is a grocery store danish and there is no place to sit!!! It’s really a pitiful place.

Not going to repeat, sorry. Clean enough, but only one small trash can, no Kleenex, not enough furniture for places to put things. The one dresser was beat up and missing a drawer!?! One blind was broken and gapped. Good thing my husband packed an extension cord so I could plug in my cPap and my cell. Noises in the walls and we could hear the neighbors cough and talk.

We found the room comfortable. Pillows nice and no problem getting 2 extra to go along with the 4 already on the king bed. Cute country theme. Not the largest or most fancy place, but it was all there. Microwave. Refrigerator. Coffee maker. Bathroom had everything you needed, but it was compact. I liked the night light in the bathroom. Even had some breakfast juice and pastries

Check in was quick and friendly. We rented the suite and it's huge. Living space, very nice kitchen area. Large bedroom with a big closet that teens set up a table and declared it their game room. Smaller room also with queen. Living areas, bedrooms and bedroom have wear but all very clean. Great price for so much space. The suite had a porch with chairs you could sit on. Great central location to restaurants and grocery. For a family of 4 you really can't beat this if you want space. The downside (ie why 4 instead of 5 stars)...the whole suite is slightly crooked ...ie it's slanty...this did not bother us all and ...we said its like a fun house (not that obviously, we are just silly people). The fridge is loud (did not affect sleeping as we had bedrooms.)...the pillows were rock hard. I would have liked a shampoo and conditioner instead of 2 shampoos in the room. I woke up thinking someone had turned on a light because it was so bright. Just blinds so curtains so if you need it dark stay elsewhere. All in all we would choose this place again.
