Oarsman's Bay Lodge

Oarsmans is such a very special place that we got to experience for 4 nights. Yes it is remote and takes time and effort to get there, however we were so pleased we did. Just wow! We spent nearly 5 hours on the boat, we could see it got better the further you went through the Yasawas. When we arrived we were stunned! So beautiful words cannot describe. Once we arrived our luggage was already in our room which was Bure 3 which was excellent, air con, fans, clean. Food was great, staff outstanding. We have no idea about bad reviews? Did they stay at the same place? Yes there is a beach there, which is just beautiful- here are my photos, Every day they rotated your dining table to where you ate meals - every table had a nice view too. Plenty of activities, you can do a lot or a little and just enjoy the place in a hammock (which we chose to do) We have travelled a LOT but Oarsmans and the staff will always have a special place in our hearts forever. We had a delightful 5 day stay at the Oarsman's Bay Lodge - friendly staff and wonderful food. The bures face a beautiful white sand beach with great snorkelling off the beach. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming and friendly. The meals were very tasty and we loved being able to eat fish every day. Kayaking, paddle boarding and snorkelling gear was available to use during the day for free. There was a hiking trail behind the resort which took you to the top of the hill with excellent views of the surrounding Islands and a great spot to watch the sunset. The spa services were wonderful - I had an amazing massage with Maria and it was so good I booked another for the next day before we headed home - thank you Maria - it made my holiday! Reef trip was a great excursion - we saw turtles, sea snake, octopus and a vast array of tropical fish on the trip. We highly recommend the Oarsman's Bay lodge and we will be back to stay again in the near future. Thank you for your hospitality.

Oarsman’s Bay Lodge is a drop of oceanic heaven in the pacific. Absolutely beautiful, warm, genuine staff and perfect service at all levels of our visit. We were made welcome on arrival with a fabulous welcome song, ate wonderful fresh food which there was plenty of and enjoyed incredible snorkelling at the doorstep. All activities are well considered and paid trips are excellent. A very special extra Vinaka to Louise and Maria at Nalova Spa. We had the traditional massage - these women are exceptional. Our stay was so wonderful! The resort is absolutely beautiful. The staff was incredibly and welcoming. They felt like family. Lucy and Ana and Mary were amazing (sorry if I misspelled your names), we had the best massages ever by Louisa and Maria, the food was delicious, our burre was so comfortable, and we can’t say enough great things about our stay! From the moment you arrive, you feel like part of a family. The charms of the Oarsman’s Lodge are plenty. From a dedicated team of friendly staff who, by the way, take pride in knowing the names of every guest, to the beautiful bures all facing towards the Blue Lagoon so you can laze on your porch and swing in your hammock to watch the most amazing sunsets over the water every night. There’s plenty to do there too. You can visit the Nacula Village, where a lot of the staff live. There you will experience the true Fiji, including the stunning voices of the local children as they sing to you from their school rooms. There’s also a hiking trail, a private island you can hire for the day complete (with a picnic lunch and champagne provided), caves you can swim and dive in, or you can just kayak, paddleboard or snorkel all day, just steps from your bure. As for food, the compulsory meal plan provides you with a buffet breakfast, a hot lunch, afternoon tea (with homemade cakes not to be missed at 4PM every day), and a three-course dinner every night. Given the remoteness of its location, the quality of the food is superb. With no children allowed, and the absence of motorised equipment, this location may not be for everyone, but if you want to totally relax and read and experience the calming effect of a Fiji resort, I wholeheartedly recommend Oarsman’s.

A great place for snorkelling or relaxing. If you are a solo or budget traveller the luxury dorm allows you to stay, and enjoy the same resort facilities, for a fraction of the cost of a bure. The dorm has 9 beds with floor to ceiling partitions for privacy. Enjoyed the social interactions with fellow travellers that is facilitated by the dorm environment. Oarsman's Bay Lodge (OBL) has everything, including an amazing snorkelling at the house reef. Spotlessly clean, good food, organised free and paid activities, great staff, well managed. Also don't miss having a spa treatment (or two). I was treated by the heavenly hands of Luisa, enjoying a back massage and facial. Thank you Luisa.

Louisa is very professional in her approach with strong hands in a very quaint and comfortable spa setting. I can highly recommend her as a great massage experience. The lodge is basic, authentic and comfortable with most villas on the beach.

All the staff were lovely and super friendly (5 stars for Luisa in the spa). Atmosphere could be lifted a little with some music at dinner but if you’re after a relaxing resort then this is the place to be and the views from the island are like a postcard

Staying at Oarsman Bay Lodge was the best decision we made. 7 days of absolute blissful relaxation, doing as little or as much as we felt like. The view is stunningly beautiful from your Bure & the rest of the resort. The Nalova Spa is a must, I had the Fiji Bombo massage & a facial, Luisa worked wonders. The basket weaving, lovo night and dance were all great fun & the meals delightful with fresh fish & fruits. The friendly smiling staff made the stay even more special. Vinaka Kathy & John
