Shore Lodge

After a 4 hour commute from Dorset, a spontaneous stay was on our agenda, we have always enjoyed New Quay as a place, however this stay has been nothing but unenjoyable and a negative experience as a whole and I would advise everyone to AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!! After an initial conversation with the owner of the company ‘Simon’ he assured us we had a ‘Deluxe Double with Sea View’ room, which was clean and presentable. The room was in a disgusting condition and the cleanliness level was very poor with cobwebs and previous hair in the shower tray. Unfortunately our stay was a wet one and that became totally apparent when rain water entered the bathroom, through a rotten wooden hatch, Simon assured us that leak had only just occurred and he would get straight on that.. I’ll leave the photo for readers to have an opinion. The condition of the wood and daylight through the frame work says otherwise. The leakage was apparent around the toilet as well as drenching the floor. Upon checkout I attempted to raise my concerns with a man in ‘reception’ I presume English was not this man’s first language as he had no idea what I was talking about and had absolutely no resolutions or any understanding of the awful visit I had. He attempted to track down the ‘manager’ who didn’t answer her phone or bedroom door. I spoke to Simon on the phone again where he understood what went wrong and seemed to be willing to compensate us due to the poor experience if we didn’t leave a bad review for him as he classed it as ‘sabotage’, and assured me he would get the ‘manager’ to call me, after another 4 hours passed I phoned Simon again to see when to expect the phone call where he simply stated ‘you stayed in the property, so it can’t of been bad’ suggesting the torrential rain at 1am would of been a better option. He finished the conversation by saying ‘do whatever mate’ and hung up. Very unprofessional.

Service second to none! Can't find more attentive staff other than at the Four Seasons Hotel, New York! En route, Jenny kept us informed with our room details so no undue stress was caused. Before arrival, Jenny provided the best place to park for our stay, which is always a panic but especially would have been on Jubilee weekend if wasn't for her. On arrival, Jenny was so welcoming; giving us a tour of our rooms, showing the facilities and bending over backwards to make a last minute room change. Critical knowledge of local board hire and directions around town was spot on. Evening entertainment, no problem for Jenny, she provided the places to avoid, the times to move from pub to bar to club to have the greatest night. Even hosted a night out for us showing the local ways, even getting us a locals discount. It was like having a personal representative for our holiday. Going the extra mile seemed effortless for Jenny, a fallen holiday maker meant she offered to arrange food and keep conversation with our friend that couldn't make it out of the accomodation with us. Accomodation as expected; clean and comfortable, just what you need for a surfing holiday. Negatives, curtains need to be changed for blackout ones. The quality of the bunkbeds needs upgrading. More for safety reasons if adults are to stay on them. Sound proofing would be ideal as we could hear the shared toilet flushing from our room, amoung other noises... Overall, would stay there again. Last minute decision to go to Newquay, however best decision. We could not have asked for a better place to stay, it was clean and comfortable. The host Jennie was amazing, she told us the place spots to go drinking and food. It looks like Jennie was the only person working there as she was cleaning, checking people in and out but this did not effect how she dealt with customers. She was so pleasant. The owners need to recognise this if they don't already. Really looking forward to recommending this place to all my friends. Thank you Jennie for the memories and see you again.

This place was absolutely perfect for what we needed as a group of 9 on a stag. It was simple, clean and had really friendly staff who were all a good laugh and helped us find places to go in the evenings. There’s long stay parking a road back and a few spots at the actual lodge. It’s a short walk from the town and the beach’s. They were also massively helpful when we realised we screwed up our booking and managed to move some bits around and save us some money.

Stayed 3 night the staff were very welcoming the location was good and the room was a good size and bed was comfortable would recommend for the amount they charge and there are plenty for car parks near by

Amazing hotel, nice location good value for money and great customer service Jennie went above and beyond and was a great host throughout our stay, will definitely be back again and strongly recommend for others.
