The Pheasant Hotel, Holt, Norfolk

Such an amazing hotel. We stayed in the Shepard hut and it was delightful. Very well equipped and very cosy. Food in the restaurant was amazing. Good choice of local produce. Food was lively and fresh and hot. Staff very friendly and helpful. High recommend

We enjoyed our first stay- it was beautiful and we were very impressed , and we recently returned. Unfortunately food on our return stay wasn’t up to its usual standard - there was a big organisation having an evening do and breakfast the morning after - the catering seemed centred around them, and what little selection of food was left for us to choose from off the menu (either fish and chips or pie ) was served reheated and too hard to put a fork into , and a similar story for breakfast the day afterwards. We were asked to come later which we didn’t mind in itself as the staff are so lovely. Breakfast was small , cold grey egg, one rasher of bacon, half a tomato and a hard sausage . I am sure the staff have learnt from this and were very nice and listened to our feedback , However , this would not be the standard to expect at this type of hotel and in their defence have previously served a decent breakfast . If you are considering booking , it might be worth checking if they have a large group booking the same weekend also, as they did struggle. Please don’t forget to look after all of us returners too.

Staff were brilliant, the food was good and the room was comfortable and well provided - the daily truffles were a nice touch which went well with the in-room nespresso coffee.

We booked the best room we could get, and the hotel and staff tried hard. Some top furnishings in room, but beds old. Plenty staff around, but not well organised. Breakfast was ok - not standout. Dinner over priced.

We returned to the pheasant for a 3rd time,as we were married here 2 years ago.The hotel is as lovely as our wedding day.It has a calm yet welcoming feel,with friendly and attentive staff.The food was even better if that's possible from the last time we stayed,a very delicious experience.Slept like a log in an extremely comfortable bed,with the only sound we could here being the wind in the trees.

Very friendly and helpful staff, pleasant room, comfortable and clean, excellent food. A great location. We preferred eating in the orangery, bright and airy. Very happy with our choice of hotel for our weekend break. We would certainly recommend.

Very pleasant 4 day break with friends. The customer service team were very good but the impression was that they were short of staff. Reasonable value for money. We only ate one night in the restaurant and the food was ok, however our last mornings cooked breakfast left something to be desired.

Lovely large bedroom & bathroom. Reception staff helpful. Let down by the long wait in restaurant (1 hour for a drink) and cold food when finally arrived that had to be reheated in microwave.
