Z Hotel

Spent 3 nights in late August 2024. The hotel rooms were excellent, very clean and comfortable. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating with any requests and the food also good. The Sexy Fish restaurant was very good with a friendly staff. The hotel is right on the beach unfortunately there was a lot of seaweed while we were there so not so nice to swim but the pool was great. There is a row of shops immediately next door with vendors not too pushy just be prepared to negotiate. Would rate a 5 except for the seaweed.

This is a great resort and it is well located. Great friendly staff and they offer good food options. Great gym. Many activities and tours to choose from right there on the beach. It was a wonderful place to go and relax for a few days. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful boutique hotel in an incredible location! My husband and I stayed here for four nights after our safari. It was the perfect place to relax before returning home. Our room, which had an ocean view, was clean, comfy and fully appointed (including a four-poster bed). The décor throughout the hotel was stylish, and the infinity pool was a decent size with plenty of shade and loungers. We didn’t use the gym, but we did have a pedicure in the spa, which was excellent. Both restaurants are located on a pier that stretches into the sea, giving diners a fantastic view at every meal. The roof-top Cinnamon Restaurant is more casual and perfect for lunch, supper or cocktails. The Sexy Fish offers breakfast (a mixture of buffet and à la carte) and more formal dining in the evening. Menu choices and food quality were excellent, and the servers were extremely professional and attentive. The beach is stunning. The hotel has a small private beach area just below the pool, and guards prevent hawkers from disturbing guests using the beach loungers. Between roughly 5 and 8 pm, villagers come to the beach to relax after work and school. Later on, you may see some entertainment like acrobatics or fire-eating. All this coincides with “happy hour” when the hotel plays music and offers drinks specials. The atmosphere was fun but not rowdy, and we enjoyed the nightly spectacle. By the time the sun sets, everything is quiet and relaxed again. Finally, the staff. Everyone was so friendly and polite, from the housekeepers to the managers. Always smiling and ready to help however they could. We’d like to give a special shout-out to Alex, Dixon, Raheema, Emmanual, and Ali (in the restaurant), and Lucy, Steven and Jabily (on reception). Thank you all for making our stay so welcoming and memorable. We hope to come back sometime.

We decided to come to Zanzibar to chill out after a seven day trek to the top of Kilimanjaro. Our stay at the Z Hotel exceeded our expectations! We stayed in the lovely Z suite, the design and interior is truly unique. We were welcomed to the hotel with a bottle of sparkling wine and a fruit platter, and the staff has been very hospitable and friendly. We had half board and enjoyed great food in the Sexy Fish restaurant every evening, with a variety of three course dinners to choose from. The Rooftops serves up beautiful cocktails and is perfect for a pre-dinner drink. We especially liked the spicy margarita and mojito! The pool area is nice and clean and with sun beds for everyone. We also enjoyed a lovely couples massage in The Spa, and nice walks on the beach. The hotel provides security, including on the beach, and we did not experience pushy behavior by anyone. We’ve had a blissful stay at the Z Hotel, and wonder why this isn’t a five star hotel!

Fantastic hotel in an ideal location. Love the decor. The Staff really make this special - I can’t remember all of their names but thanks in particular to Veronica, Patricia, Dixon and Khalifa. We stayed in cottage 2 and the sunsets are unbelievable with incredible views of the beach and sea. At high tide the waves come in under the terrace so you can’t really get closer to the sea! Sexy fish was great (also the staff who were so kind and accommodating). We went to lots of different restaurants outside of the hotel but in our opinion this by far had the best food - quality and presentation.

This was booked as part of a safari package. We usually stay in travel hostels so this was really fancy and clean. The rooms have AC and private bathrooms. There are a lot of accomadations there like a gym, beach access, ect. The decor is really cool too. We booked a double bed room but they put us in a single. The staff was really accommodating and made a cot for a second bed using the pool beds. They were very kind.
