We chose this motel as it is fairly close to the train station and we were arriving on the train and had no transport. We liked that the beds were comfortable, the price was affordable, we were able to cook our own meals in the kitchen. The shower was spacious and powerful. The owners were very accommodating and allowed us into our room early, and dropped us back to the station when we left. The motel is close to the National park walk and also the lovely walk by the stream. It is in a quiet neighbourhood and close to the Powderkeg lodge which has a restaurant and bar. The only down side if you don’t have your own transport is that the walk into the main shopping area is about 2 km. It was a lovely place to spend a few days.

We had a perfect stay in this lodge. Friendly owner. If needed they gave advise for outings. The rooms have everything you need. The breakfast is good, continental and cooked. The location is quiet with a large garden, close to visit Tongariro National Park.

Very convenient for Tongariro. crossing. Kitchen not bad. We were going to stay at the Chateau but it closed just after we started our trip and we were moved to this hotel. Convenient for us. Hot tub welcome after we completed the crossing.

Not much to add to the title... clean and simple... maybe a bit dated with a need for a bit of a refresh like a tv with remote and windows that shut, nicer lights etc.... Oh and a workable WiFi... we had a hard time connecting and when we did... it had hardly any bandwidth to send a pic or two

Comfortable, warm, parking right outside unit. Clean, well equipped with utensils. Bed excellent. I loved the location because it was surrounded by greenery, trees and bushes, the river near-by and walks, not right in town but great for a flat walk to town. Staff very friendly.

We were looking for a last minute nights accommodation, this was an easy last minute booking. Friendly staff who were welcoming and helpful. Basic room however had all we needed and was clean and tidy. Good value for money and would stay again.

Great stay with very clean facilities and comfortable bed. The kitchen was well equipped making preparing any meals really easy. The staff were lovely and caring and the atmosphere of the motel made us feel relaxed throughout our stay.

I have stayed twice in two different types of rooms, one self-contained and one with shared kitchen facilities. Both rooms very clean and tidy, with a large and we'll equipped shared kitchen. Staff were lovely and location was very close to our event headquarters. Definitely plan to be back next year.

This was our second time staying at the Ruapehu Mountain Motel, both have been in one of the Studio rooms and we were able to bring along our dog making for an enjoyable stay. The rooms were clean and tidy. The motel is very handily located to facilities at the Ohakune Junction and just a short drive, bike ride or walk to Ohakune shops.
